England have played poorly today no question, but little things make a huge difference Clarke was shown to be caught off Harmison late on but was not given out and they could easily have been 5 down with less than a hundred ahead. Because he's proven time and time again that he is NOT international class. He's in the same mould as Hick - fine racking up the runs against county attacks, but can't cut it when the pressure is on in the test arena.
