Stewards at the end of the game

So the steward got the sack there and then did he ? I smell porky pies !

Well the supervisor might have been feeding me a line of BS, but told me that it wasn't the first time the steward had sworn at fans so was going to be sacked.

I don't care either way and never broke the law parking where i did.

The point I was making is that guidelines put out by the club are there for a reason. Nearly all complaints against the stewards on here are by people disobeying those guidelines.

I'm well aware of what the club "advise" people to do, but LEGALLY every single member of the crowd can bring a car and park it in Withdean if they so wish. A steward cannot threaten anyone that "their car might not be there when they get back."

The supervisor confirmed i was legally allowed to park where i did, but in doing so the club were within their right to stop me going into the stadium.

Well just like happens anywhere else. The streets nearest to the stadium would start to fill up, then those arriving later would park further away. Nothing illegal in that whatsoever, and nothing "lazy" either, so I don't know what point you were trying to make. Of course a lot of people won't park near the stadium because they either come by other transport or want to respect the club's wishes, but I'd rather people come and park in Withdean than not come at all. And those coming shouldn't be threatened by twattish stewards.

If "twattish" stewards didn't warn you about parking, the alternative might well be an incredibly irate local resident who cannot park around their own house every saturday. They might not all come so well-roundedly "twattish" as Albion stewards - they might come with something for your paintwork, windshield, or tires ....if you got lucky!
All against the law, of course, but you try venting your frustration and CONSTANT whinging to a nice police person on the phone, as they decide not to come straight out to inspect the damage to your ex-car!

No single sign to say i couldn't park where i did (even if the steward tried to say otherwise), so i parked there. Steward then thinks he can give it the big un and gets told where to go. A 5min chat to the supervisor who explains things in the correct manner and i doubt i'll park there again.

And btw i never made a complaint against the steward, he got himself into the shit.

.... I live 0.6 miles from Withdean and on every single day of the week I can park right outside my house day or night. When the albion are at home I'm lucky if there is a space in the entire ROAD.

So - you are a local resident, but cannot see why other residents local to the Withdean Stad. might want to park near their own houses, and have access in the roads on matchdays?

Great, nice to know that sir - please now offer up your own street and address for all other fans to park there and walk the convenient 0.6 of a mile to Withdean. I look forward to using your street for parking too..... so be a good chap and post this information.
In anticipation,

0.6 miles is surely outside the restricted area anyway?

And any minute now we'll have Westdene Seagull or one of the NSC resident stewards coming on with the usual gubbins. There are one or two stewards who are complete arseholes that give the rest of them a really bad name.

Ooooooo - BITCH !!! :catfight:

What's so difficult about understanding a no standing on the track rule ? There's even signs to remind you !

In my opinion I have no arguments with the stewards enforcing the rules. (thats what they are there for) But what really annoys me is that they seem to go on at H block about sitting down (which is fair enough as Withdean is an all-seater stadium) but the away fans are never told to sit down by any stewards despite standing for long periods of the game. It should be the same both ways.

I honestly don't have a problem with people parking wherever they choose. We all pay road tax so we can all park in any legal space. Your house happening to be on an adjacent piece of land gives you no more right to a car parking space than someone who's travelled 200 miles to be there. As long as noone parks over a driveway I've got no problems. I'll obviously try to park as close to my house as possible, but I don't expect to return home an hour before kick off and find the space right outside empty and waiting for me.

Re your previous post, I think it would take a very sad and petty individual to get so wound up about car parking. If the club feel it necessary to have stewards "advising" then fair enough (although I've never seen one in my road), but they shouldn't be making threats like HS reports. They've got no more right to talk to drivers than I have. I have never had a problem with stewards so I'm not going to slag them off, and INSIDE the ground they have the authority to enforce the rules, but outside they should just keep out of it unless any serious incident occurs.

Oh, and I'm not going to tell all of nsc which road I live in, but trust me there are PLENTY of roads around here you could park in and have an even shorter walk than I do.

Oh I agree that no steward ought to be making statements with expletives like that, or laying down rules that don't exist.

Now, your own street you won't reveal - but you don't mind telling people they can all park at Withdean where the stadium actually is.
You ARE generous to a fault.

I understand what the Badger is saying, the parking up there is largely unrestricted, so I don't see how anyone can tell anyone else not to park in that road. It's unrestricted, it's a free for all. If you want it controlled, then you have a parking zone, and there are enough of them, are there not?...

Providing driveways aren't blocked and noone is causing any obstructions, I don't see why an Albion fan shouldn't park in the roads close to the ground.

I thought there were parking restrictions near the ground and that was one of the things that enabled us to be at Withdean; and without which we'd still be in f***ing Gillingham fer Christ's sake !!!

I am starting to think the stewards are not very good. Yes enforce the rules but sometimes just use some common sense and being friendly helps. I went to the game yesterday and I had a rucksack with a sleeping bag etc (staying over at a friends house). I fully expected to be checked on the way in so no problem about that. Its the way they went about it. She was simple rude to me. No thank you or please just barked at me. May think its bit of a petty think to complain about but at Millwall it was far superior. I had a rucksack with me with loads books in it. I was checked on the way in and it was polite and friendly. The steward even joked with me about the amount of books I had.
