Played with Valerie Nepomniachi...... manager of Milla's Cameroon in 1990.

Have also played with some former Turkish professionals and one present day Polish league goalkeeper.

Always hoped that someone from my schooldays would become a professional but unfortuantely not :( not that I remember anyway.

Ricky Marlowe, Paul Rogers and Peter Taylor are the obvious ones.
Also played in the same team as Michael Standing, Gary Elphick and Will Packham.

Did u leave them standing?

I played with Paul Flood, Sammy Nelson and Teddy Maybank, all long after they retired. They didn't really stand out, but then they were all well into their forties.

Not just a mere pro ...

In an inter-college tournament in 1978 I played several times against a guy called Hassan Nayagaber (that isn't how you spell his surname, just a phonetic approximation). He was good, invariably the best player on the pitch, but then the standard wasn't terribly high. I was playing in the Worthing League at the time and I said to Hassan that he was definitely County League standard and that he ought to maybe give it a go.

That summer he played for Iran against Scotland in the 1978 World Cup.

Few lads I went to school with are playing League football here for Kildare County now, another played in the Premier here for Dublin City shortly before they went to the wall in a spectacular fashion.

Kildare County would be about the level of a poor L2 team, Dublin City would have been at a similar level to the Albion at the moment.

Used to play 5 a side and a county league player would use it as a run out, indoors at Stanley Deason.

I never got near him, if I was in goal and I got a touch on his shot it hurt. He was competitive to the enth degree and the class between him and our best players showed.

A friend of mine grew up with a lad from Burton who ended up playing for Derby (defender), he always said he would tale penaltys against him tell him where he would put them and score everytime due to power and placement.

Haven't played with but played against Albion reserves few years back in the Senior Cup.
They had Mayo and Virgo centre back who were a bit on the slow side! Nathan Jones who run the show and Lee Steele who was very gobby. They tonked us 7-1!

Also played against some ex Albion players who were plodding along in the county league, Crumplin, Byrne, Chapman (class).

However best moment was smashing a 25 yarder in to top corner past John Keeley who was playing for Wick. Spoke to him in the bar after but didn't tell him I was aiming for the other corner!

Also played against Paul Ifill many a time.

Martin Chivers. He was a decade older than everyone else but was still the best player on the pitch by far.

Played in a summer kick about in Preston Park in the late seventies/early eighties with Peter Osullivan, Peter Sayer, Eric Steele ( I think), being watched by Terry Mancini and Desmind Lynam. I was in goal and Sully chipped my fingure nail with a shot - what an honour.
