Sometimes I think the club need to have a word with RDZ. In his post-match comments he seemed to say that 70 percent of Joao Pedro's best was good enough for us but that he would need to do better at a bigger club. And he keeps hinting that our players are on their way. That's not just down to poor translating.

I did not know much about him from Watford but during the first friendly in America I told my lad that he looks like he will give us lots of fun. He is brilliant. I think that over the last few weeks he has tried fewer of those flicks around the corner and he seems much better for it. He is going to be some player.

Ultimately, whether we like it or not, these young wonderkids use us as a stepping stone. He's just being honest in interviews.

So 4 in open play in epl in half a season. Hardly great.

I suspect we would not entertain anything under 90m this early in his contract so I would be shocked if anyone came close to this number in the summer unless he gets up to at least 15 goals in open play.

We will get at least one more season out of him after this I reckon.
I can't see anyone stumping up anywhere near the fee we would be asking for him either.

We have no financial pressure to sell

Yep - we're about as far up the food chain as we possibly can be really. We're obviously not and will never be an elite club, so at the moment we're the perfect club to be at as a young player aiming to achieve elite level

He's scored 4 goals in open play this season ? Can't see many teams paying what we would require somehow.
And struggling to do 90 mins

It's almost like he's trying to keep him motivated to do even better...

Do you wake up in the morning, have a nice shower and breakfast before going to work?

Or do you just put on yesterday's clothes, roll yourself a fag, and trudge onward?

Have a little self respect, man. You're doing my head in.

Was incredible (again) last night but RDZ’s point is fair. He can be an excellent 5th-9th in PL type player like this or if he keeps improving he can be a Champions League final 8 type of player some day. (Not finished article for that level yet but showing that he could be if he wants to someday).

It is getting a bit annoying with him always banging on about our players leaving.

De Zerbi is relentless in asking for more from his players, staff and club.
He does not seem to accept that there is a ceiling for anyone.

He was particularly dismissive of Pedro in early performances, for not giving enough across the pitch.
He is now focussing on his ability to give those levels for 90 minutes.

it is an elite mentality.

I think he also manages players differently.

Solly March was apparently a ‘football genius’ when RDZ joined the club, this rubbed off on the player and we were given his best form ever.

Meanwhile, there was no space in the team for Gilmour (with Mac & Caicedo) and he was leaving training in tears after yet another bollocking from the gaffer. A year or so later, Gilmour delivers one of the best ever midfield performances in a Brighton shirt in one of our biggest games ever (Marseilles).

Horses for courses.

i suggest you suck it up.

Or if you'd prefer think of it as:-

What was a sea containing all professional clubs, taking our players.
Went onto become a pond containing many clubs.
To what it is now
A puddle containing a few clubs. for whom our players can leave.

Meanwhile our recruitment has gone in the exact opposite direction.

Nothing to 'suck up', just gets on my nerves a bit the way he keeps banging on about players moving on. Although as a man once said (a lot) 'It is what it is'.
