Hope so too.

Never heard of the rule, as presumably an eligible receiver surely has the same ‘standing’ as a TE?
Yes they do. The issue was whether Deker (an offensive lineman) had reported as eligible. That's a pretty standard rule, and I've seen it lots of times. I'm surprised you hadn't heard of it. (They usually announce it to the crowd so there's no confusion).

Heard of the offensive lineman eligibility, it’s the no-touching once eligible that was called, I hadn’t come across as effectively they are bound as a TE so can do both.

Regardless, it all felt very harsh.

Ah ok, fair enough, I've never heard of the 'no touching once eligible' rule either. I must admit I haven't seen it yet, only read about it, and the report I read said the refs hadn't acknowledged his eligibility, but on further googling that doesn't seem to have been the issue. Apologies.

No need to apologise. Have watched it several times now. The player clearly speaks to the head official, who runs over and briefs the Cowboys defence.

The play runs, and the eligible player fakes to block, practically brushes (or perhaps a bit more) an on rushing Cowboy, and then runs to the 3nd zone and catches the pass.

The whole ‘no touching’ seems a bit of a nonsense, as the Cowboys player wasn’t impacted by the contact, it would have happened if it was a TE….

So I just don’t get it….

Yours, confused from Worthing…..

(Have a good evening - Happy New Year) 😃👍

Edit - also if its contact within 5 yards isn’t that permissible anyway?

Yes, happy new year to you too! :)

As you say it wouldn't have happened if they were a TE as they're like utility players. Don't know the rules in-depth enough to comment on your edit - but it seems we aren't the only ones!

Ravens are by far the best team in the league right now, let's see if they can win when it will matter.

Also, Eagles

So it comes down to playing a resurgent CareBears at Lambeau for a wildcard slot.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous.

Man alive, the Panthers stink. They look every bit as bad as the Jags in Lawrence’s rookie season under the ‘guidance’ of Urban Meyer. That’s a big job turning that around, especially as the Panther’s should have had the next #1 pick but instead they have it to Chicago 🫣.
Also, David Tepper the Panther’s owner, what a douche bag, throwing his drink at Jags fans.

For the Jags, it’s a win and we’re in situation against the Titans next week. Even though we’re not equipped to do anything post season it sure would be sweet to secure the play offs for a second year straight against the flaming tacks.

Whenever it comes to the Titans, I'm right behind their opponents. Plenty of anger in H-Town still over what happened in 1997.

Throw in the Oilers throwback jerseys that they wore in our pre-Christmas fixture and there's no love lost to put it mildly.

A straight shootout then between Texans and Colts then for that #7 playoff place. With CJ back, we've got a decent shot.

But even if we don't make it, it'll have been a great season over 0.500 under a very popular ex-Texan HC in DeMeco.

The trade gamble on moving up to #3 for Will Anderson Jr has more than paid off. Stroud Offensive Rookie of the Year.

I'll congratulate you now on the Jags winning the South, DFP. Even with a late wobble, the best team of our 4 over the season. :)

That was appalling, the NFL really made a big error allowing that.

Hope they do it for your sake.

How long is Lawrence out for?

PS - you could be a Giant’s fan and watch your team continually snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, even with no o line or QB….. 😃

The eagles are doing their level best to look like Accrington Stanley at the moment.

Had to dip out of the games last night due to NYE festivities but oh my did the Arizona Cardinals make my day. Pick two for Washington in the draft. Caleb Williams now in play for us. Whilst I have been sceptical about him I cannot lie that Kool Aid is finally starting to work on m. Will be watching Drake May film also this offseason. As much as I love Sam Howell he has been ruined by this soon to be fired staff and is not looking like our starter for next season.

Hopefully Lawrence is back this week, and it looks as though Kirk could be back very soon, if we can get Lawrence healthy, with Engram, Ridley, Kirk, Jones and Etienne then there should be some spark. Having Cam Robinson back at LT is a HUGE game changer, he’s no pro bowler but he’s infinitely better than anything else we have, and he’s been out for the previous 4 games which is when the season started to collapse.

I thought the throwback Oilers jerseys against the Texans was poor taste to be honest.

Worth a watch. JJ gets it.

I'll even forgive his Burnley cap with all those Titan putdowns.

Thanks, I'll watch it. In the same vein have you seen 'Johnny Football'? (about Johnny Manziel). Also on Netflix. Of special interest to us as Cleveland fans, but other will enjoy it too.

Watched this just before Xmas - what a great documentary. I honestly cant believe the Browns drafted him in Rd1 though, when you look at what he was like in college. I'll admit I didn't know the full extent of his partying lifestyle etc, but I do remember sitting there on Draft Day praying we didn't take him.
Theres no way I would've touched him in the draft if I was a GM, if I had known half of what we saw....🤦‍♂️

Yeah. However (and this might sound a little churlish seeing as we're having, by our standards, an excellent season), the terms 'Cleveland' and 'Good recruitment*' are never words that appear naturally together, regardless of the GM. Something about the air at Berea seems to affect them all!

*Edit: Especially QB!

Bonehead call from Indy on 4th and inches with the season on the line...

Hand off to Taylor who'd rushed for 180 plus yards or throw to some bloke who had caught 6 passes all year ?

Wonder if that drop cost Dan Campbell 'coach of the year'
