hey, im a brighton supporter that lives in NJ. feel free to ask me about anything or anywhere in the state. happy to help. UK BHA supporters have always been good to me when I've traveled to see matches there. my overall advice to anyone travelling to these cities is to do some research about the particular neighborhoods you traverse. places in the periphery can get very rough.
Let me second this point. I'll be in NJ for the summer and heading to Philly and Newark for those games. PLEASE be careful esp at night. Don't be alone, be aware of where you are and don't stray. You can find yourself in Beirut very quickly. It's happened to me a few times and I know the place like the back of my hand. You can have a wonderful time, feel very safe and not have any drama IF you're smart and aware. Happy to answer questions and generally help anyone who isn't comfortable.

Atlanta traffic is like London. The two freeways North/South are very congested most of the day.
We would go through Atlanta during spring break season and the traffic was pretty horrific all the way to Miami area.

Blimey, 11 years from sign-up to first post! You are NSC's very own Drew Maggi!
figured i needed to listen more and post less american ignorance.

btw, i think the league could use some type of tie-breaker for draws. maybe most posts hit followed most corners? :D

New Jersey Drive might be a good film to watch to educate yourself on some of Newark's less salubrious sections on the flight over. also check out penn station newark if you have a penchant the fragrance of raw sewage in the summer.

If you are an actual American, but joined the board in 2012, what caused you to become an Albion fan (as that was long before our Premier League adventure began)?

Ive always loved British football since I was a kid (actually had a palace shirt when i was about 8 years old but have sent it off since) and my favorite band is Sea Power who are from Brighton. Around the time we started getting more access to English football on tv in US I saw Brighton beat Newcastle in the FA cup and that sparked an interest as they were an exciting team to watch and the supporters seemed like they were always having fun. I then saw a Sea Power fan donate a brick to the building of the Amex with Sea Power lyrics on it and it was officially settled. My first match was Cardiff at home in 2012. Since then I've averaged about 4 games (mixture of home and away) attended per year. Lucky enough to have seen them win at Spurs away last year and Chelsea at home this year. I was unfortunate enough to be at the Newcastle match when Dunk had to go in goal.

I remember that match. Dunk had an issue with the keeper's gloves fitting his hands. He really never felt comfortable with the gloves. That is a lesson for all 3rd string goalkeepers in pro football. Make sure there are goalkeeper's gloves on hand that fit your hands in case you are called upon to play gk.

If you're familiar is the traffic in Atlanta similar to Brighton or London?
Belated post… Atlanta is similar to London in that both are sprawling metro areas. However, London has massively better public transport as well as cabs. Atlanta’s train system (Marta) was designed to connect lower income neighborhoods- not bring in tourists. If your hotel is not near the stadium, prepare to use Uber to get around. There are some beautiful neighborhoods- such as Virginia Highlands and parts of Buckhead… many good restaurants, art galleries… and the best aquarium in the states. If you are interested in seeing Appalachia, I would suggest renting a car for 2 or 3 days and driving north along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here is a site with details. https://glenella.com/blog/asheville-to-atlanta/#:~:text=Georgia's%20Scenic%20Highway%20197%20is,to%20get%20mouthwatering%20Southern%20food.

Are you a weird culty obsessive like all their fans seem to be?

[Bit of background since that might come across as a bit aggressive otherwise, one of my best friends is a Sea Power fan, and I've somehow gone to about 4 of their gigs with her without ever being into them. I always feel like everybody else there is at a completely different, much better gig].

Why go see a band that you’re not in to? I’m sure if someone tagged along with you to see a band that they weren’t into, they would think your ‘weird’ too.

To see the same band that you’re not in to FOUR times?

If you fancy your friend, just tell her.

I basically like them, without being particularly bothered. And I like a night out. One of those occasions was at Glastonbury, so I was there anyway.
I don't find anything weird about the idea of having female friends, or wanting to spend time with them.

Ok…

That’s all I needed to know… it sounded like you didn’t enjoy their music.

...
Are there any planned fan meet ups?
Are the club likely to put on any fan events?

The "Stateside Seagulls" (who are now recognised as an Official Supporters' Club by the Albion) have just sent out an e-mail in which they state:

"We are currently working with the club on planning events and meet-ups in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and New Jersey for each match."

I have no idea what that may entail.
