At some point are we going to have to rethink our wage structure?
Probably go hand in hand with a hefty jump in ticket prices tho sadly. Temptation must always be there to test the market price now that home games sell out in two shakes of a lamb's tail. Rebrand the NS as 'ringside seats' and charge a suitable premium etc etc. All credit to the club tho for keeping NS prices so low for so long

We'll have to if we are in Europe.
Boundaries yes, structure probably not if you see what I mean. I expect we'd still have a cap that was lower than a lot of other teams'.

I sense we're at a tipping point a little. We've had an ST increase and the travel questionnaire certainly hinted at removal or changes to travel subsidy which would be a real terms increase in costs to fans. However, I'd also like to see RDZ get a new contract and we'll need more players in Europe which is an increase to costs even if they're within the existing structure and cap. As a fan base - no matter what we make on transfers - we may have to pay out slightly more to see this successful side.

Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah will be four to go this summer, all homegrown and will turn a decent profit.

Be surprised if they sell Gallager or Colwill. Fofana won’t be sold yet.
if they shipped out all those home grown player, would they have enough?

Off topic.

Couldn't believe the ticket prices at the Crucible this week when the Bunny Huggers did their 'best', apparently for that session some fans paid up to £500 for a front row seat on the match that had to be abandoned.

Chelsea's finances are bonkers.

Lukaku and Sterling are both contracted until 2026 on £325k p/w = £16.9m pa

= £100m+ wages remaining

And that's just two of them, not including massive transfer fees (losses). :lolol:

Why?

I believe that the wage structure (which I am sure is in constant evolution rather than being 're-thought') is integral to our successful model. We need to be a team that is more than the sum of its parts. And we need to avoid greedy dick heads.
Hope we stick with that. I don't want to end up like Chelsea
Yeh, we're likely to need more players if we're in Europe, but it's less clear we'll need to pay higher wages than if we weren't there.

If anything our bargaining position as a prospective signing club increases. The prospect of Euro football on the CV might act as a counterweight to the (relatively!) modest wages.

There may be some European football bonuses already in contracts or it may be the club decide to introduce a special performance bonus for that competition.

I paid nowhere near that for mine. Think it was £60 or something.

And I think it was postponed :) and I think there's a thread :)

It really is an unsustainable bubble. At some point down the line there has to be a major correction with major casualties. EPL football will eat itself. Nothing's surer

Almost certainly you're right, but it's reassuring to remember that the hedge fund backed US billionaires and middle eastern sovereign wealth funds will pull through

RDZ's style of play is unique and I'm not sure there are many in that Chelsea squad that will fit our budget and our playing style. Colwill certainly does and if the opportunity is there to bring him in - and De Zerbi wants him - then he would be the one.

As for wages, even the likes of Broja are reputedly on £78K a week.

I can certainly these moves: Mount at Liverpool, Gallagher at Newcastle, Havertz to Bayern, Ziyech to PSG, Auba at Barca, Kante to Arsenal, Kovacic to one of the Manchester clubs.

Liverpool won't sign Mount. He's bang average. Same goes for Auba at Barca - it's not 2017 anymore.

Chelsea are screwed as nobody will want their cast off players at the wage they're being paid.

Colwill certainly seems to have bought into the team spirit bigtime and would be a sound long term investment for the Albion. Plus the prospect of European football next season...

I've got a mate who once went to a boozer along King's Road and he reckons ALL of the Chelsea players are shitehouse.

Insightful stuff, why bother?
It was a very simple and yet accurate answer, no?

The only players with Premier league experience that we sign are those nearly or completely out of contract. Because money. This rules out the majority of their squad so then it comes down to if any of the end of contract players fancy a pay cut and are not dickheads and are good enough for our team and are not being approached by more attractive offers.

I can't see us signing any Chelsea players this summer although I'd love it if we did get Colwill.

I always worry about those who claim that Mount is 'bang average'.
