Stories from journalists who were arrested, handcuffed and locked up for covering JSO demonstrators.

The journalists knew where to go, the police knew where to go. I said the protestors said a location ie M25. I didn’t mention a time.

FFS is that it!

LBC were obviously being tipped off because they were on the scene in minutes most of the time.

The police only know where to go once its been reported.

Here is a hypothetical question for you. Imagine Brighton are winning on Sunday, and we get a dangerous freekick in the 88th minute. Protestors from Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion or whoever storm the pitch and damage the goalposts.

What would your reaction be?
tactical nuke/dirty bomb

Read the replies, not just the first tweet. People whinged about being held up for hours because the police closed the area, but JSO had announced their protest location the day before. The location can be avoided.

As I pointed out before, Brighton fans disrupted traffic along the A259 three times with a planned protest. We can’t be throwing stones from our glass house.
Protests don’t change minds?
We got our stadium, even though it took 14 years.

Perhaps a better target for Just Stop Oil would be PL football matches. Surely there would be a lot of support on here for preventing all matches being played ?
All matches? That’s a bit over the top. Maybe one at a time.

I'm a little disappointed this morning. In a couple of hours last night it had escalated from putting some paint on a snooker table to stabbing tennis players, violence and revolution. I expected absolute ARMAGEDDON this morning when I got up, only to find it was still a bit of paint on a snooker table which got resolved with a Hoover

So you’re not going to justify your initial stance? I’m hugely disappointed.

What would I do? Well I’d support the full electrification of the UK railway network, heavy investment in making the UK road network more electric vehicle friendly, tax petrol cars once this is done, ban internal flights within the UK (excluding Northern Ireland), build high speed rail across the country and build more on and off-shore wind farms. So I would have to “give up” more tax money, but I think that’s a price worth paying to improve the nation.

Your turn.
that may well turn out to be more cost effective in the long term, so you would need to cut tax, or spend it on something?

And have offset the pollution created manufacturing the device you’re using to post, somehow. And the fuel used to transport it to you/the store you bought it from. And a million other things which contribute to climate change on a constant, daily basis.
so you're saying...................... give up

Yes but the point is, like the M25 ones, I think it turns more people against these protestors and ultimately the cause. They do more harm then good with annoying stunts like this in my opinion…
if people see this protest and it compels them to blat up and down the m23 in their bentleys, what can be done with these types? self-harming and negatively impacting on every human life, people yet to be born! will someone think of the children?

Christ, if there's a cure for insomnia it's this whole thread. Pure shite. Members that know absolutely nothing about snooker.

It's now f**ked up the tournament schedule and the players that worked so hard to qualify for the match last night must be absolutely seething.

Wouldn't it be funny if protestors got onto the pitch at Wembley on Sunday and slashed the goal nets, causing the match to be abandoned and a wasted trip to London?

Wànkers.

if we stopped any drilling for oil, how will we raise windfall taxes on the oil companies?

this group protestors want the end of western life. this is a piece from their website:

so point one, if renewables are to be subsidised from fossil fuels, there needs to be fossil fuels, right? second a "grid" based on domestic generation, storage and use leaves nothing for business, industry, commerce to use. we're supposed to become subsistence producers of energy, and inevitably food, since so much production requires oil based chemicals. it is clueless. they want you to live in a smaller home, give up holidays, share your vacuum cleaner, you wont need to buy anything new because you'll just use the existing clothes, electronics and furniture. no, its batshit crazy.
each individual has to police themselves; not, please themselves,

it's really not that difficult

Sure, but BHA fans weren't gluing themselves to roads, molesting horses, abusing dwarves or going out of their way to generally bollocks up the lives of the general public in order to make a point.
Wrong. Nobody gave York City fans a second thought when the pitch was invaded and the crossbar snapped in 1996. They'd made a four hour journey for 9 minutes of football.

What are you talking about? Why should anyone have to know anything about snooker to discuss these protests on here?

Think Wembeeeeerleeeeey might have a few sets of nets. A stab in the dark perhaps but there you go.

Look at the protest as a positive, snooker has had more press in a few hours than it has for decades

that's a good shout, something would definitely get done then, as football is sacrosanct in this country
