There is a lot to like about your post but definitely not Jools Holland. I'd rather be transported back into the queue for Charlton tickets than watch his smug Jazz club. Seeing the New year in with some weird band from Peru you've never heard of playing the Panpipes isn't for me.
This. It was a sad day indeed when Jools Holland seized the NYE franchise. Mind you, before that, the OGWT Special used to polarise the nation (Old Farts v Young Punks). Tho my favourite was always THIS...

(and in particular that one magnificent time that Andy's mic failed at about 23:57 hours and he saw in the New Year silently and very very angrily effing and blinding at the backroom techies :lolol:)

You should give Cerys Matthews a go on 6 Music one Sunday morning. She sounds right up your street.

Out of interest do the club have any say in kick off times or are we just loyal puppy dogs who just do what we are told.
Last season Boxing Day 8pm kick off was bad this is marginally better.
Everton away on the first day back to work doesn't make sense either.
It's not stopping me however it must make it difficult for many.

The thread title drew me in because I do like to be a miserable arse git alone on NYE.
I was happy to be reminded there's a game on. With a bit of travel disruption I might even end up staying up past midnight, a good result and I might even pop my head into amateur night for the first time in at least a decade.

Would argue that there's very little comparison between the two games. That Brentford game took place against a backdrop of ZERO by way of public transport. Which was a bit of a disgrace really IMHO. This year's NYE game has (on paper at least) trains to and from the ground every ten minutes or so. Dead handy for local Albion fans and for the thousands of Arsenal fans that only live round the corner and who will mop up most of the tickets on the ticket exchange

I've had the pleasure. I think I turned off when some weird version of the Pink Panther when on the ones and twos and i've never been back. I actually like a bit of 6 but I have to have it in small doses as its far too worthy if I listen to it all the time. I'm all for something a bit different but it goes off when they find an obscure Polly Harvey track made with teaspoons in front of a live bunch of hipsters.

I need 5 tickets for the Arsenal match if anyone is looking to offload there’s??
Log in and buy some then
The Amex will be half full of Arsenal fans buoyed by Kroenke’s spending spree.
Funnily enough this doesn’t seem to bother the club to much when theres profit to be made, away games zero profit angers them to the point of border patrol checks at the turnstile.

Go online and buy some then. Most of us don’t block buy tickets.

Oh and it’s “theirs”. Be sure to spell your name correctly when buying your legitimate tickets for the game. Mistakes cannot be rectified after purchase.

Not the best comparison. I don’t think the Arsenal fans in the home end will be buying tickets for the extra loyalty points and not attending the game…..

Not necessarily talking about travel just that we might have commitments outside football. 8pm Boxing Day, 5.30 NYE and 7.45pm away in Liverpool the first day back after the break. Not easy explaining these to family and the boss.
Hence my question does the club have any say in scheduling of dates and times.

After telling the Mrs I'd sold my ticket she looked surprise and said she thought I would have wanted to go. Of course, I did, it was the sulking I wanted to avoid.

You can't win.

If you and your party are arsenal fans, I hope you don’t stand near me and cheer on your team like some West Ham twat did a couple of years ago. That didn’t end well.

just keep quiet!

Crikey, are you the fun police?? I’m not block buying, I have 2 ST’s and now 3 family members that want to attend.

Bore off.

If you are a season ticket holder you will notice that under the ‘tickets’ section of the website if you navigate to the arsenal game, season ticket holders can buy up to two extra tickets for this particular game. So that should sort you out for the extra 3 you need?

I thought that was the Jules Holland Last week in November show . . . .on repeat

Last time I remember a decent NYE party the music was on compilation tapes.
