More than 1,700 Liverpool supporters who have reported that they suffered physical injuries or psychological trauma because of the chaos at the Champions League final in Paris on 28 May have registered with law firms to make claims for damages against Uefa.

People signing up for the potential group claims include some who reported that they sustained broken ribs in crushes at the Stade de France before the match between Liverpool and Real Madrid, and many more reporting symptoms of anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder."

The end of Uefa?

Congratulations, I was wondering how many replies it would take before someone chipped-in this with "hilarious" comment and it turns-out it was only 3.

How those fans were treated that night and the lies that the authorities told to cover-up their ineptitude is disgusting. And if this law-suit means that when we get to play in Europe we are more likely to treated correctly then it has to be a good thing.

Part of the reason why Liverpool were treated the way they were is because of how they behaved in the 80s. Same as England fans takes a very long time to shake off a reputation.

That's a pretty inflammatory oversimplification. I seem to recall an incident in the 80s that involved dreadful policing, lying by the authorities and a large-scale cover up that stained the reputation of Liverpool fans because of a shameful campaign run by elements of our national media to paint the fans as the perpetrators rather than the victims?

England fans have been and continue to be complete thugs abroad. Liverpool fans, far less so.

Bloody hell... I'm not sure I like defending Liverpool fans

Heysel ?

I’ve been going to England games away for 18 years so I know probably more than anyone (bar a few) what it’s like to be treated based on reputation rather than actions.

Shouldn't they be suing the French police, they were the ones that managed the 'security'? Unless Uefa were the ones to sign-off on the arrangements

I am glad that my family didn't treat my German Uncle and his wonderful family badly in the 70's simply because Germany did a lot of bad things 25 years before in the war.

NSC, the Neverland of Internet forums, where middle-aged men never grow up.

Always the same pattern:

1. A stirrer with a hatred of another group of people he's never met, starts a thread, to ...
2. Draw in fellow haters who already have a preformed conclusion based on tropes, typing a narrative based around their tropes. The same people then post a dozen times each to pad out the thread in the vain hope that it lasts and lasts.

Normally lasts 48 hours and about 125 posts.

Job's a good-un.

Inevitable in this ridiculously long hiatus from Albion matches, people are bored.

I’m not saying it’s right. But it’s a fact, or at least part of the thinking.

My main point was to the poster I quoted that if it goes to court and whatever happens, we don’t really have anything to be thankful for because it’s likely based on reputation anyway
