As far as I was aware Bobby was an ambassador for the club, but does anyone know if he is now involved in the coaching set up?

In 2020 he mentioned he fancied the idea of being a part time strikers coach, see argus article

https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/18406415.bobby-zamora-fancies-passing-striker-tips/

And then yesterday there was an instagram post from him which looks to be on training pitch at Lancing with the first team.

So do we finally have a specialist strikers coach?

(Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere)

Got to say the recent works on the training ground sure do look good.

Doubt it. Perfect combination would be Bruno showing the strikers how a top defender would react to certain situations so that the strikers can make space and Bobby to show the strikers where the goal is and how to beat the goalie. :)

Neal Maupay = 288 minutes per PL goal
Zamora = 350 minutes

Maupay = 163 minutes per Championship goal
Zamora = 187 minutes

Not saying that NM cant learn anything from Zamora but that the latter was somehow a much better goal scorer is a myth.

Yes, but obviously we don't like him because he's French. He can't even spell Neil properly :shrug:

You have to remember that we all watched Zamora in the lower divisions. In his first period with us, he was the first striker that Brighton had since Peter Ward, who when given a chance, you'd be surprised if he didn't score rather than just hoping he didn't miss. Close to 30 goals a season in both our successive league winning seasons in the third and fourth tiers and hugely responsible for some of us starting to believe that it was possible for the soul draining days of the late 1990s to be put behind us. Okay, he didn't pull up trees in the top division, but then why should we care? We didn't watch him then. He'd already made his mark on us lot and emotional bias can't be defeated by mere statistics:

When I got to go to hospitality for one match a few seasons back, my kids asked me whether I was looking forward to meeting any ex players and were surprised by my nonchalance. On my return, I had to admit that, when Bobby Z came over and spoke to our lot, I was as much of a mooning schoolboy as the rest of the table.

I like Neal, but Bobby Zamora is the greatest striker the world has ever produced and nothing you can say will ever convince me otherwise..

Only when Maupay has scored another 21 Prem goals, appeared in an FA Cup Final, UEFA Europa League Final and played for his country would he have matched Bobby.

Love Bobby. Despite my NSC nomenclature I don't think there'll ever be a player I like more than Zamora.

He really was the figurehead of the team that won back to back titles, the team that gave this club hope and joy again, the team that allowed us as fans to hold our heads high again as our story became not our troubles but our rise and footballing prowess.

If he'd been fit in either of his seasons with us in the championship we would have 1) stayed up the first time and 2) got promoted a season earlier.

No idea if he has any coaching work with us or even if he wants any nor do i care if his boyhood club is West Ham, the man is and always will be an absolute bona fide Albion legend.

Yes but I was younger and happier when Zamora was playing for us and therefore he is miles better than any player these days. I just feel old watching Neal and Leo running around scoring.

With very little evidence to back this up, I'd suggest that Murray would have far more knowledge to impart to the strikers than Bobby.

Murray's success was down entirely to his craft and intelligence (rather than say, speed or strength) - those are things you can try to pass on.
