Bobby Zamora scored twice and Kazu Toda completed 56 minutes on his comeback in an eventful, successful, night for the reserves at Ipswich Town.
It all happened at Portman Road - five goals, woodwork struck, efforts cleared off the line, a penalty save, mistakes - as we ran out deserved 3-2 winners.

Zamora took his goals well and might have had a hat-trick, Lars Hirschfeld made a hash of Ipswich's first goal before saving a penalty in the second half and seconds after that stop, Stephane Dalmat pounced to grab the winner.

The first half was all action from Andy Marshall's block from Jon Blondel in the first minute to Helder Postiga clipping the post in the 45th.

Dean Marney was heavily involved early on and almost created a picturebook goal for John Jackson, who volleyed his 50-yard crossfield pass wide.

But the home side hit back to take the lead when Lars Hirschfeld somehow let Nabil Abidallah's grasscutter squirm through him.

It was 1-1 within five minutes though as the lively Zamora outsprung Marshall to head home another Marney cross from eight yards.

Zamora should have doubled the lead after 32 minutes when Blondel's delightful pass released him on Marshall but he seemed in two minds whether or not to lob the bouncing ball and ended up slicing wide.

Town, always easy on the eye going forward, regained the lead somewhat against the run of play after 34 minutes when Matthew Bloomfield showed great technique to volley Abidallah's high ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Phil Ifil then cleared off the line twice in a minute, getting the way of Westlake's shot from a quickly-taken corner and then hacking away Collins' header.

Play soon switched back to Town's end though and Zamora levelled it up again, this time a spectacular volley over Marshall into the top left corner from the right edge of the area.

Postiga almost got in on the act in the final seconds, poking Dalmat's pull back from the byline into the post.

Ten minutes later and we picked up where we left off. Dean Bowditch slid just wide and Gerard Nash did well to clear when Postiga dinked over Marshall.

Toda completed his night's work after 56 minutes, replaced by Mark Yeates, while Mark Hughes came on for Ifil, the youngster doing well at right-back.

Morrow was next to take aim just after the hour and should have done better with a clear header and Postiga was denied again, Marshall this time reading his intentions to tip his low curler wide.

The outcome of the game was all decided between 76 and 77 minutes. Bowditch raced onto Westlake's pass into the box only to be upended by O'Donoghue but Hirschfeld guessed right - to his right - to make the penalty save from Bowditch.

Seconds later and we'd secured the points. Jackson played the ball into Dalmat who spun away from two defenders and slid the ball under Marshall in the same movement.
