They'd be more likely to melt the stadium down and recycle it into a cycle lane that zigzags along the length of the A27

More chance of dinosaurs mating with crocodiles to form a super-reptile hybrid that takes over the world. Not on your nelly will the council step in if BHA goes under.

If the Albion were in trouble, it would be for figures way over what the council would be able to put forward.

Having said that, it's not as though the present incumbents in the council haven't agreed to loan a project £14m to fund a tourist attraction.

The most curious thing..
Reading the report, it sounds like the city council actually own or part own the stadium."Coventry City Council has voted to bail out the company that runs the city's Ricoh Arena with a £14m loan.Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) runs the stadium on behalf of the council and the Alan Edwards Higgs Trust charity........The leader of the Labour-run city council, councillor John Mutton, said: "We have taken a decision that will benefit city taxpayers and secure the future of one of our most important and best loved PUBLIC assets that brings great benefits to Coventry people."

Do you think Brighton council would do the same???

BBC News - Ricoh Arena: Coventry council votes to back £14m loan

Coventry council have bailed out the owners of their Ricoh stadium with a loan to try and keep the club and the ground going.

A far cry from a few years back when they were in the premier league getting excited about their new ground.

We don't pay rent to Brighton council so the same situation wouldn't arise. Coventry are trying to recoup unpaid rent, so by helping the football club to stay there, they stand a small chance of getting something in return.

Annual rent of 1.2 million pounds?

No wonder they're trying to renegociate that deal. There's no way Cov City can carry on in League 1 with that millstone.

They would have been better off staying at Highfield Road. I liked that ground.

There's more chance of The Albion bailing out the City Council I'd have thought.

Historically, the council has done quite a lot for the Albion.

Yes, but that was a council made up of Brightonians. Not the horrific social experiment going on in Bartholomew Square at the moment.

Do you think an organisation willing to sell an artefact that has been synonymous with Brighton for 108 years, could really give two hoots about Brighton & Hove Albion.
