Oh yes, the day has finally arrived...

WORLD CUISINE 2004 is finally upon us

After a year of qualifying the world's 16 finest cuisines are here to do battle.

Here's the shake up

Group A - Italian, British, Moroccan, Greek

Group B - Indian, Spanish, Japanese, Argentina

Group C - Chinese, Mexican, Russian, Caribbean

Group D - French, Thai, German, American

First up, Group A

It's chips vs pasta and feta vs cous cous. A mostly European group with a hint of North Africa. Surely the Italians are favourites to go through here? Who can put up a challenge to the dough slinging Latins?

Place your vote....

What are you regarding as British food? I thought curry was the most popular dish in the UK, not fish and chips.

is this to be the plain chocolate or milk chocolate question of this competition?

fish and chips came from jewish emigrants from spain in the 17th century (i think) so we could get rid of them too.

surely we can not deny that the curry is without a doubt an indian dish first. and on this basis WORLD CUISINE 2004 works...

by the way, we're looking for sponsors...

My money on Morroccan and veggy Moroccan, I have the coscussier and two tagines.

LC:rolleyes:

I've voted for Italian, but can't let this go without a massive protest at what passes for Italian cuisine in most English Italian-style eateries.

I lived for fifteen months in Italy, eating out all the time, and I was NEVER served a meal that came with a creamy sauce of any sort. Who got the crazy idea that creamy sauces were what made food "Italian"?

And don't get me started on "Deep Pan" pizzas (unless you are prepared to accept their US origin).

Italian for me.

Only cause I've sampled a proper Italian family meal at my girlfriends Uncles place in Italy, when I went there last year with with her. Can't beat it! :clap2:

i went for italian too

british food is great, unfortunately not a lot of people bother to cook it properly and are more concerned with buying cheap ingredients than quality ones

i used to like deep pan pizzas until i had a proper thin and crispy one. i'll never have that doughy shit again!

anyhow, looks like the brits might be in for a shout for second place...and who knows, a qf showdown with argentina:clap:

The trouble with Pizza is, that deep pan S**t is American.

The proper Italian pizza (or pizze as they spell it) is wafer thin and really crispy. Can't beat that. :flameboun
