THPP say YES.

McLaren have to be seen not to be using 'team orders' in the Canadian GP on Sunday after the heavy criticism in Monaco, and Hamilton's all over the papers threatening to quit if he's forced to assume the No.2 driver role.

There will rarely be a better race to back Hamilton to win.

He was available to win on bhabet (bet365.com) at 4/1 this afternoon. After winning pole position, he's now 10/11.

(and I'd normally put a smiley here, but there only seems to be about four available. None of them appropriate. I mean, DOH! Bunch of arse)

He may do, I don't really know, but I will say that 10/11 is shit odds!

From a betting point of view, maybe, though it's still a decent enough bet seeing as how Hamilton is in pole position. But even if the betting returns won't be spectacular, it does show that the bookies believe that LH is finally going to be allowed off his 'team orders' leash and be allowed to do proper racing with a view to winning. Which is how it should be. His team seem to be realising finally that if they restrict his potential this season, then they won't retain his services next season.

I don't really know much about F1, and I doubt I ever intend to, but I fail to see how ANY driver can be odds on when there are 20+ cars on the track. I know he's in pole, but he's never won a race before so it's not like he's going to be uncatchable surely? What about Alonso? What odds is he as a result?

having been on contract with Mclaren for a good few years im sure they have a contract to ensure he does not leave too soon and waste the money they have invested in him in the near future

or have a huge 'sell on'* clause

*or F1 equivalant

Hamilton's all over the papers threatening to quit if he's forced to assume the No.2 driver role.

The English papers are making something out of nothing here.

For example:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,3-2007260650,00.html

Headline "I'll leave if I'm second fiddle"

There's one small reference to being no. 2: "He vowed: “I hate the situation Rubens was in. If that was ever the case for me I would not be here much longer."

The rest of his quotes are all like this: "I’m sure I’ll sit down again with Ron this weekend and speak about it. I’ve just got to remember I’m extremely privileged to be part of such a wonderful team.

“I’d do anything for this team. I’ve bonded with the guys so well over the years I’ve been here. I believe I’ve got a special relationship just because they’ve seen me grow up.

“Monaco was just one race that did not go in my favour. But in the future there will come a time when it will. I hope it will be in this race. Why not?"

I wish the papers would get off his and McLaren's backs. The best way for Hamilton to win races and to be the next British world champion is to give him the time to do it.
