If so, 8th spot will probably be enough to qualify for Europe again - but we are currently behind Germany and Spain.

Fortunately, the rules for determining which countries get the extra places are really easy to understand:

Last night was huge on closing the gap between England in 3rd and Germany in 2nd. Us and West Ham both winning and confirming top spot in our respective groups scored a lot of points. If Liverpool had beaten USG then England would be in second with a score of 13.875. Long way to go but after the potential disaster of Man Utd and Newcastle being knocked out on Tuesday and Wednesday it's great to see little old Brighton helping to make up for the mess caused by the bigger boys.

It does my nut in that they use 3 decimal places and make it look like thousands of points.

League cup winner likely to not be a top 7 team. Cant see Liverpool trying, maybe Newcastle will. Other than that it’s going to be team outside top 7 meaning one less league european place.
