Gordon Greer has revealed his extra incentive to open his account for Scotland – and tell an Albion mate all about it.
The Seagulls skipper hopes for a seventh cap when his country tackle Gibraltar in a Euro 2016 qualifier at Hampden Park.
And he admits he has special reason to hope his nation avoid a massive upset against the minnows.
Greer has been swapping banter with Jansen Moreno, who works on Albion’s analysis team.
He said: “You’d be surprised what I know about Gibraltar. We have a Gibraltan analyst and he’s been filling me in.
“It’s not as much as the manager knows as I don’t think he’s allowed to say too much.
“He’s always talking about Gibraltar, though, and he’s got a few friends in the team.
“He wished me luck before I left but I would love it if I scored. He wouldn’t - but it would be brilliant.”
Greer played the full 90 minutes if a 1-0 friendly win over Northern Ireland on Wednesday in the absence of injured Blackburn powerhouse Grant Hanley.
And he is determined to avoid embarrassment in tomorrow’s contest (5pm).
He said: “People might not expect us at the back to be busy but you need to be concentrating for the whole game.
“You are playing for your country in front of your own fans. It’s a massive honour and you want to concentrate and do your best.”
