Why all the shouting for OGH ? Am I alone in thinking that Currie can play a bit ?

OGH is without doubt committed and will chase and run but he has not produced for quite a while now.He has his moments but how often do we get quality crosses from him and how many goals does he score ?
Currie looks like he has a good range of passing and can hit a good dead ball. All this bollocks about being fat and unfit he has done the pre season with the rest if he was unfit he wouldn't be considered for the team.He hasn't got Jarretts pace but I think he knows more about what to do with the ball.
Why do we always have to knock players and get on their backs instead of giving them a fair run ?

I'd go along with that dodge. Currie had a look of quality about him but I think he's someway short of full fitness.

So far Currie has been crap.

Hart on the other hand gives 100% and should be in the starting line-up.

Debate over!

Well said ,Dodge.Let's give all the players a few games to gel together before we start sticking the knives in.Our restricted budget means we can't afford the type of players that some of our Championship rivals can sign,so lets give everyone who pulls on the blue and white stripes a chance to prove themselves and not make judgements based on two games

As per another thread we have been crying out for someone to slow down play put their foot on the ball and then pass it. We now have somebody and still people are slating him.

just because someone gives 100% doesnt mean they are good enough

Exactly. I could give 100% every game but ability-wise I wouldn't get in the under-8s (the team, not their arses).

I'm keeping an open mind on Currie. He wasn't too bad at Reading and definitely wasn't the worst player on the field against Plymouth *cough* Kerry Mayo *cough*.

Pretty disgusted at sections of the crowd singing 'Oh Gary Hart' last night. Not really going to help Currie, is it? Part of me actually thinks McGhee put Hart on but also left Currie on just to piss people off.

As BensGrandad says, we've been crying out for someone to put their foot on the ball. Currie does that, although on Tuesday it seemed nobody at all could control the thing.

It was also a bit tough on Currie when he was being spoken to by the ref after that 2nd half scathing tackle, for some sections of the Albion fans to start shouting "off off off"!!!

I think OGH has got the potential to upgrade his game a bit, whether he will do, or get the opportunity, I am not sure. I have just seen in the past glimpses of a better player.

In most cases, I think he should be instructed to leave the defending to the the defenders. I do not think he should play wide though. Even Leon Knight is a better crosser of the ball. Maybe, he will not be quite good enough, but in the end to end games, I think he has shown the presence to take the ball out from a defensive pass and release it for a forward runner. He can't hack it when an opponent is closing him down, but who else in the Albion side can?

I hope he can put in a few good performances, because I like the player.

Id like to see him stay in the side for another 6 or 7 seven games before a judgement is made. Everyone should then be upto full speed.

I think hes a decent player.

I am keeping an open mind on Currie until I have seen him get a chance to settle and to see how he links with Knight, Chippy etc.
OGH has been inconsistent and seems to have lost the pace he had 3 years ago, you can never fault his commitment but we need more creativity, quality and unpredictability down the right.

Currie might be the answer, dunno yet, but if his confidence is damaged by the retards giving him the stick I heard on Tuesday night we will never know.

We have the whiniest home fans in The Championship, we have a reputation of being Spurs-On-Sea amongst players in terms of moaning, though Spurs were booed off the field last week during a home friendly, which is quite an achievement.

No wonder there are gaps appearing in the stands at Withdean, thank heaven for the fantastic away support.

You're alone. I thought he was pony. I am, however, prepared to give him a chance. I'll judge him after about five games, not the one I've seen him in so far.

I have a couple of questions though;

1) If he is not fit why is he being given the full 90 mins? Jarrett isn't fit yet so he was taken off. But compared to Currie he was and honed athlete.

2) He is 29 and has never played in this division. Why did we sign him in the first place?

I have to say that I thought the level of whining on Tuesday was really depressing. Okay we were poor but this was our first home game at a new level, we were short of key players, had a number of new faces,Plymouth played well and we suffered a double whammy of losing a player and a goal in the same incident thus taking the game out of our reach. All this after the club had given its fans one of the greatest days out in its history a few short weeks back. We are going to get stuffed a few times this season and if we are to have any chance it lies in players playing at the top of their games and having belief. For 60 minutes I had to listen to some mega-bore behind me who had come over from Australia slagging of the team as being 'third division' but he was not alone, just more relentless than most. Fair play to those who tried to get behind the team, its something we should all be doing.
