He wore stupid glasses, always listening to his earpiece, manned the gate and seemed like he was in charge of the other stewards.
A few guys who always stood in front of usused to chant "Jobsworth Steward is a homosexual" which he always used to acknowledge with a humour of sorts!

Anyone remember this man. I have seen him stewarding at Withdean as well!

The steward you refer to is Chris, he was always on gate 23 (behind north goal) and used to love the banter with the fans. He wasnt in charge of any other stewards at the Goldstone though, he was a stress steward which meant he got paid more than the rest of us but had to watch the crowd at all times and not the game.

Does anyone remember the old guy at the Goldstone who used to carry round the board at the start of the second half to show the lucky ticket winning numbers. We used to call him Jack Pott and it was hysterical when there was a high wind blowing.
He used to get bags of good natured abuse: - 'Get that @*%+ board down !' and the like.
Sadly I'm sure he passed away a good few years ago, but it still creates a great memory

I remember "Jobs"! Used to stand at the front of the North for a while and he was always getting grief :lolol:

A Goldstone legend along with the bloke (Fred?) who sold Arguses during the game (despite the fact the final on a Sat would have the match report) but used to shout something that sounded like "Eh Oh Eh"
