every manager has been keen to replace Kuipers but none has been lucky enough to find another mug to unload him off to. the last chance we had to get rid was Peter Taylor at Div 2 Hull and then the daft useless Dutch twat f***ed that up for us by colliding with a tree.
Kuipers, said this before Brezovan's f*** up today, before Saturday. He's a decent enough keeper, there are worse about and when he came in we were in dire need of someone. But I'd rather play Kuipers if he's fit. I think Poyet should look for a new keeper as well, don't think either Kuipers or Brezovan would get in a promotion side.
Kuipers doesn't command his area, not being all that easily mobile, and still has some difficulty in accurate bootings, although he has improved remarkably in the latter over the last few years. Shotspottingwise he's a legend and difficult to beat, but maybe various managers don't quite see him as the finished article and consider the time and graft it might take to get him to be a topclass keeper.
I like him, but have always wanted someone else. That someone else is not flaphanded Brezovan. Or that comically terrible Shearer on display today.
At the moment Brezovan. Won 2, drawn 1 out of five, two clean sheets. The team is doing well with him in it.
Maul the opposition but get dropped for one rare mistake what message does that send? It'll put every player on edge, so scared of making a mistake, they don't try the things that win matches for fear of screwing up. If we keep dropping points due to Brezovans mistakes, that's the time to drop him, imo.
Agree with the views about us collecting points with Brezovan between the sticks, but a change in keeper shouldn't affect the balance of the team. With that in mind, he has made a couple of decent stops but nothing particularly exceptional, looks shaky on crosses, his kicking is ABYSMAL and he made one and a half mistakes yesterday that cost us goals. I am sure some fans have hounded goalkeepers out of the club for less...
Although I am no massive Kuipers fan, he seems by far the best option we have at the moment.
It shouldn't. But, on Brezovan's first appearance the commentators noted how he stood further out than Smith and Kuipers, which encouraged the defence to push up and not defend so deep, which improved our defensive display, for that match at least, so it can have an effect.
Swapping for Michel would probably not have much effect, but I keep coming back to "you don't change a winning team" even if it's a run of just one win.
