Homeless football cup under way

The second football World Cup for the homeless has kicked off in the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
More than 200 homeless players representing 28 countries from four continents are taking part.

The tournament is designed both to highlight the problem of homelessness and to help those involved overcome their problems.

The event is organised by a worldwide network of street papers and supported by sporting goods manufacturers.

The week-long Homeless World Cup is due to culminate in a final next Sunday.

How do they decide who the home team is, given that they haven't actually got a home?

They toss a coin.

How they decide who is going to go begging for the coin is another question altogether.

This was one of the hardest parts of the organizing. It required a lot of work on the part of volunteers to get the passports arranged, as well as a lot of difficult fundraising.

Homelessness isn't that funny really.

"It could happen to you
It could happen to you
It could happen to you sometime
When you least expect it
Done by the ones that you never suspected
All your bills come due
It could happen to you"

Right, now I'll lighten up a bit.
