Check him out! Can anyone make the file size smaller for me so I can have it as my NSC avatar?

When I used to teach at a secondary school in Barnsley in the early 1980s, the kids would call anyone with a learning difficulty a "Joey Deacon" ..... cruel, but that's the way kids are!

Had a classmate called Jon Deacon who was called "Joey" by everyone* throughout his school years.

* Except his parents - possibly

That was a popular put-down when I was in first and middle school, although it always started with a "Nur!!!". Blue Peter made a special request for kids not use Joey's name like that.

Wasn't he an Arsenal fan?

Yup, Joey Deacon... king of the window-lickers! I think just about every schoolkid in the late 70's used "Duh! Wot a Joey!" as a form of insult

At my school kids were either Joeys or Lomas kids (after the name of the centre for what we always referred to as the dippy kids). Most of us secretly envied them though as all they seemed to do was drive around the school field in go karts that they constructed in mechanics classes
