The simple truth is nobody did, that's complete bollocks.

Hypothetically though, if I had to choose someone, I'd say it would be a Palace fan. You lot hate him.

Possible situations for this "Story" from the Guardian:

1) Palace Fan, not liking ex-BHA player and knowing he wont cut it in the Prem.

2) Brighton Fan, Simply does'nt want his "God" to go to SCUM!

3) Reporter, made it up to fill in a blank paragraph.

4) Southampton Fan, thinking BZ scores 5 goals a game and does'nt want another striker at SCUM to help keep them up!

5) Jordan being a complete PRICK!

ok the last one might not be true but the top 3 count, in other words, Dont Read Too Much Into It!

edit: added option 5

Where's the quote from BR? If there's any truth to that then that's very depressing news.

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has openly revealed the offers he tabled for transfer targets during the January transfer window.

Manager Iain Dowie criticised Jordan last night after Palace failed to make any new signings during the winter market.

"I acquired 14 players at his request in the summer. We haven't acquired any in the window but we put in a £2.75m bid to Charlton for Jason Euell, provisionally accepted but the manager didn't want to sell," revealed Jordan.

"We put a £3m bid on the table to Crewe for Dean Ashton but they didn't want to talk to us. We offered Liverpool a £500,000 loan fee for Igor Biscan and £500,000 if we stay up. We offered £1m for Bobby Zamora, who apparently didn't want to join because he was getting death threats on his mobile phone [from Brighton fans] . . ."

If there are people THICK enough to fly from Worthing to MJ's trial because he is blatently not guilty  then I'm sure there are people THICK enough to offer death threats for equally trivial matters. Some people clearly don't have lives of their own to lead, the sad twats.

There is something so intensely brattish and unlovable about Simon Jordan that somehow makes him the perfect chairman of that ragtag outfit. I find it hard to hate Dowie but "Personality Odour" Jordan is so much like a big spoilt Fauntleroy that wasn't slapped enough as a child.

the obvious problem with this story is that the quote has the "[]" brakets usually indicating a given, obvious word or point is missing to make the sentance scan.

But in this case it is utterly misplaced, with the reporter either injecting it himself or basing it on some inferance Jordan made at some other time. Either way it has no place in an attributable quote.

ie its bollocks.

After Dowie's comments about Jordan's parsimony (of the promoted clubs WBA and Norwich have spent a lot more in the transfer market) possibly costing CPFC their Premiership place it's surely only a matter of time before one of them will be departing Selhurst.

I think for once we should not push the blame to Palace fans.

This is very sad indeed and hardly a way to pay back a player who did so much for this club.
