Having just read an interview with Michael Caine, it reminded me of what a fantastic body of work he has produced. The Likes of Zulu, Alfie, Get Carter, the Italian Job, Escape to victory etc is a fantastic body of work

which other actors can compete with mr Micklewhite ??

Anthony Hopkins is Britains greatest ever actor imo.

Christian Bale in 30 years time could well exceed Hopkins however.

Ralh Fiennes has a pretty decent body of work behind him and still young.

Bale was fantastic in American Psycho, good in The Prestige, good in Batman Begins, but can be rubbish at times.

Michael Gambon has done pretty well and unlike Caine he has done some great stage work. Terrance Stamp has done well as has Albert Finney. Caine has made some great films but he would admit he's made some bad ones just for the money. Bob Hoskins has done well too and let's not forget Robbie Coltrane. Then there's Ewen MaGregor, the list goes on.

He will never top 'A Very Ordinary Man' in my opinion.

Having had the misfortune to sit through 2 or 3 of his films, I have yet to see any evidence that he can act at all. Completely talentless in my view - I'm sure others will differ.

You clearly haven't seen such classics as 'The Bank Job' and 'Death Race'.

Admitedy most great actors will have had their turkeys. All the actors on your list have their merrits. Mcgregor's career strted brilliantly (trainspotting, shallow grave but since hasnt really been in anything iconic (and i include star wars in that.
