Who has been abroad to watch some European club football?

I have picked up that quite a few people on here have been abroad to see some European club matches (Spain and Italy in particular) Does anyone have any advice on what is the cheapest way to to do this? I have looked at some of the agencies selling packages but I think they are probably overpriced. If people haven't used the agencies - where have you got the match tickets from?

As it happens I will be at the San Siro on Saturday night watching the Milan Derby. I can't really offer any advice on how to get tickets as one of my best mates has been living over there for 10 years and is an Inter season ticket holder. We're flying from Prestwick to milan for £75 return. The cost of the tickets are 30 Euros, although I would imagine you could probably get cheaper ones for the game. this is for the Inter end and it is a Milan home game. Can't wait. I'll let you knwo how I get on if you like.

Been to;

FC St Pauli (quite a few times)
Schalke
Borussia Dortmund
1.FC Koln
Borussia Monchengladbach
Bayer Leverkusen
Hamburger SV
VFL Bochum
Preussen Koln

German football is great. I never buy tickets in advance, just grab a cheap flight over and buy your tickets a couple of hours before kick off. Grab a couple of beers, then turn up at the stadium, stand on the terraces and enjoy the game. Don't think i've ever paid more than 10 quid to get into a game.

Just been to Barca last weekend. Tickets were 41 Euros (£29), bought on the day. Should have bought a couple of days earlier though as the cheap seats (30 Euros) were sold out and there were only single tickets available. Fortunately there were some spare seats next to me (season ticket holders who didn't show?)so we could all sit together (me and my two sons).

Lovely ground and an impressive 83,000 gate, but little atmosphere until Davids was sent off and the white handkerchiefs were waved at the referee.

same at the bernabeu. you'll see some wonderful football, but you'll sit amongst the most passionless arrogant twats you'll ever find at a footie match

get over to A Coruna mate. It won't be cheap but you can eat some of the best seafood in Europe, then stroll along the beach to the Riazor and watch the boys in Blue and White stripes coast to victory in a very friendly place:clap:

failing that it is very cheap to fly to madrid and you could also go and see atletico, who do create a great atmosphere

The Gentlemens Drinking Club were hoping to get tickets for Sparta Prague v. A.C. Milan on Tuesday, unfortunately the ticket office has confirmed it is now a sell out. Anyone know the Czech for "eight tickets please Mr Tout or the big feller with the can of cider will slap you" ?

St Pauli? The 2nd finest team in the world in my opinion. Some of their fans came over for the two fans united days and i'm sure, if Atilla has been spreading the word, that quite a few letters will have been delivered to Mr Prescott with Hamburg postmarks.
The team are, at the moment, rubbish. They're quite amazingly similar to us in terms of league position and performances. The team plays second fiddle to the supporters, some of the best i've ever met. Anti-nazi, punk and metal loving, campaigning buggers the lot of 'em. They play at the Millerntor, one of the few remaining city centre grounds in Germany, mostly terraced and still with fences round the pitch. Situated just a couple of blocks down from the Reeperbahn. Crowds of 16-17,000 in the German regional league (about 10,000 more than most of the other teams). And their colours are brown and white. Got a few shirts myself, best one being the hooped affair sponsered by Jack Daniels.
First game I went to was back in 97 at the grand age of 17. Went over on my own. St Pauli beat Carl Zeiss Jena 2-1 with 2 goals in the last 2 minutes of stoppage time. After the final whistle the crowd swarmed into the Hamburg fair that was next to the ground and filled up the beer tents. Amazing scenes. Last visit was in November for a 1-1 draw with Neumunster. Crap game, but another beer soaked adventure in the bars and the fair made the trip more than worthwhile!

Can't we adopt St Pauli as our 'twin' club, the same way the other places have twin towns?

We are similar in terms of
• campaigning
• beer-swilling
• partying
• large anti-Nazi contingent
• being either totally crap or totally brilliant
• chairman being (as certain fans have labelled him) a 'Trot'

... or am I being naive?

Only if they drop their Celtic connections and all have a damn good wash. :D

I've been trying for a few years now, swapping scarves, wearing Albion stuff to St Pauli games. Atilla is the one who's made the most in-roads. He plays gigs over there and knows quite a few people in the St Pauli crowd. Still haven't seen any St Pauli/Brighton scarves yet, their favourite foreign team is Celtic.

I was a season ticket holder at St Pauli from 91-95. Very down to earth and as Ex Shelton Seagull says the team are second to the supporters. The players had to access their team room by going through the packed supporters club bar which sold only beer in bottles. Andrew from Sisters of Mercy was a regular in the bar (i suppose at the game too) as were some other famous bands (in Germany).
The ground holds 21,000 and was sold out the week after losing 5-0 to hsv. also unlike a lot of other German stadiums there is no running track and the very vocal crowd is on top of the players. Often opposition defenders complained of not being able to hear their team mates. Once away at Bremen who were 3rd in the league at the time, the Bremen manager said it seemed like an away match there being so many Pauli in the ground.
My table football has players in blue and white stripes v brown and white though the brown and white do have a wonky centre forward..
Attila used to attend the annual Pauli gigs and made very public Albions woes even in those days (the banks forcing us to sell Saunders for a pittance etc).
