KEANE ADDS TO WHITE HART PAIN
Spurs' injury crisis deepened as Robbie Keane was stretchered off in the Repbublic of Ireland's friendly win over Australia.
The former Leeds man looks certain to miss Saturday's game against his old club after going over on his ankle at Lansdowne Road, live on Sky Sports.
Keane collapsed in a heap inside the Socceroos six-yard box right on half-time and was carried off on a stretcher with his right ankle heavily strapped.
Reports from the dressing room area confirmed that the 24-year-old has twisted his ankle, but if he has damaged ligaments he could even make him a doubt for the crucial Euro 2004 qualifier with Russia next month.
The full extent of the injuty will not be known until he undergoes tests on Wednesday, but Keane was seen hobbling around in the tunnel and manager Brian Kerr remained upbeat despite the initial shock of seeing his star striker on a stretcher.
"It is early to say," he said. "He has twisted his ankle. We hope that he is going to be okay."
Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle is already without Fredi Kanoute and Gus Poyet and also Stephen Carr limp off as the Republic came from behind to cancel out Mark Viduka's opener with goals from John O'Shea and Clinton Morrison.
Poor old Glenda I suspose he now will use this as an excuse for his poor management style
