they said they WOULD be in place at the start of the season, so where are they? The club come out with excuse after excuse yet they struggle to fill the ground for each home match and coz of this they dont want the extra seats as with even more empty seats the pipe dream would be even more farsical than it already is. Dick is penniless thats obvious even steview wonder could see that and as for his lap dog perry getting involved well no wonder we still play in legoland.

I sent an E Mail to MP about this and he replied within 1 hour to basically say that the problem was with two Withdean residents complaining to their local Tory councillors who in turn withdrew their support for the scheme. As a resulkt of the recent local elections the council is now 'hung' with no overall majority and this is making getting the permission very difficult.

It's a condition of the planning permission and therefore the additional parking must be provided in order for the seats to go in.

You f**king idiot - the council imposed this condition NOT the club. The club HAVE to adhere to the condition if they are to put in the extra seats.

I would like to see more seats at Withdean while we are there, but you have to ask do we need them - last Saturday only 5996 turned up leaving just short of 1000 seats empty (only 280 were untaken by Preston). This issue could be a waste of time at Withdean at present.

I don't doubt that we would fill a modern arena like Falmer when it's built, but as for Withdean I think we should concentrate on filling the 6800 seats we do have, otherwise the Anti Falmer lobby are only going to accuse us being incapable of filling a small stadium so why the need for a larger one.

PS - If any season ticket holders can't get to a game please give your ticket to a mate so the seats get used. Week after week I see numerous empty seats dotted about the centre of the South stand which is supposed to be all season ticket holders - IF YOU CAN'T USE IT THEN LET SOMEONE ELSE !

True. Think we could fill Falmer eventually though. Southampton had a 15,000 capacity at The Dell and now fill the 32,000 St. Marys.

The latent support need the opportunity to see the stripes on a whim and that simply can't happen at Withdean.

Southampton play against quality opposition week in week out like Man City, Charlton, Arsenal, Chelski we DONT thats why they fill St Marys we struggle to fill St Peters Church let alone St Marys!

might not be chelsea, arsenal, charlton etc, but leeds, west ham, forest, wolves and leicester are still big clubs and our opposition. not everybody can be in the premiership. i think we are doing well to be at the level we are at.

The crowd dwindled because of poor results, the lack of investment in the team, and being bottom of the league... we now have some good wins under our belt, talk of a new striker, and a mid-table position... watch the crowd grow at the next home game!...

The 2k extra seats are a must if we are going to consolidate our position in the Championship pending a (pretty please) big fat Yes for Falmer...

There is also still the myth that the ground is always full so there's no point in even trying to get tickets. I spoke to someone last night who was a Goldstone regular but has only been to Withdean a couple of times because each time he had to queue for tickets - job timings make having a season ticket impractical. Now he has to write off and hope to get one in a ballot, he's as good as given up until we get a new ground. I put him straight on the 'always sold out' bit, but how many more are there like him?
