We seem totally incapable of turning a game round, once we go a goal down. In 15 league games this season, we have gone a goal down. The results in these games are......won 0 drawn 2 lost 13.
In 9 home games this season we have gone a goal behind and lost all 9 games !!!
The record, when we go a goal up is totally different...won 9 drawn 5 lost 2

There is such a marked difference between these two stats that I can only conclude that we have such a fragile confidence that as soon as we go behind, too many players in the team are mentally beaten.
Is this a lack of character?...I don't know.... is there a ' mindset problem '...so ingrained, particularly at home, that as soon as the opposition score..players and fans all feel the same i.e ' here we go again. '
Opposition have worked us out at home and know that they only have to score first to win.
It is clear to me that certain players do not give of their best at home. This is unacceptable and surely contributes to our wretched record.

Is that not what Bennet and Lua Lua are expected to do open up the defence out wide and provide chances for the striker/s

Correct and Lua Lua was doing that today except nobody was getting on the end of them!

They were aimless lumps into the box no direction towards any other player. You cannot expect Murray, Forster or Holdroyd to chase around looking for wayward balls all of the time some of them have got to be directed towards them to give them a chance.

What a load of arse!

Most, if not all were in the directon of the opposition's goal. Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't that the right direction to be sending the ball and shouldn't our strikers be looking to position themselves so that they can latch on to a loose ball and stick it in the back of the net?

And "yes", I do expect our stikers to chase around looking for wayward balls. It's called effort and successfull strikers score goals from doing just that.

It would help if some of the ball went somewhere near to one of our players so as to give them a chance to get it rather than lumped at a tall central defender. How many times today did a ball reach anywhere near Murray ata reasonable height for him to control and havea shot!!!!!!!

Uh-ho Looks like another player is going to get the Whing/Kuipers treatment.
I'm pretty sure that when a winger is leaving his fullback for dead & delivering the ball into the danger area, he is pretty much doing his job.

If we fail to have any shots on target then the odds are not great are they? Lua Lua had a decent shot near the end, can't think of very many others, mostly miles over the bar or wide.

Didn't we fall behind v wycombe (twice), only to come back and win5-2?

Sorry folks...I didn't make it clear enough...these stats are based on the first goal in the game and yes you have spotted my one deliberate mistake! I was mixing up the two away games at Wycombe.
Sothe new stats are.....1) conceding the first goal..w 1 d 2 l 13
2) scoring the first goal......w 8 d 5 l 2
Apologies for that but it still doesn't make pretty reading.

You're still off the pace and talking crap!

Balls not at the right height and nowhere near poor old Murray. Absolute rubbish. Maybe if he had been in the right area instead of chasing around in an already crowded midfield, he may have had a chance to do his job and score a goal.

Lua Lua was doing his job yesterday - others less so

It worked well for Liverpool during their glory years as the likes of Barnes was told to get the ball into Rush not into the area then it was down to Rush to deliver the goods. If Rush then messed it up that was his problem but the attacker had done his job. I was told that was the philosophy by a well respected Liverpool player.

At Withdean we really need to go for the jugular from the start, not waiting until we are one - nil down.

We also need to playing 4-4-2 at home.

Finally, we sould be starting with our best eleven, and surely, that means Forster starting games.

So all we need to do is get some world class internationals & we'll be sorted.

In the last couple of games we've tired after the half time break. The defenders and midfielders have dropped off and not supported the attact, the short pasiing moves, which have been a delight to watch, are replaced by aimless hoofs up the pitch thus giving the ball away and inviting pressure.

Football is no longer an 11 man game and I feel that tactics should be worked out beforehand where certain players should be told to run themselves into the ground for 60 mins then they will be replaced so substitutions are more tactical rather than seen as pulling off a poor player.

The last two games have seen the opposition suss us out and change things to stifle our play. We need to be a step ahead.
