I think this poll has too many animals such as polar bear and lion that no unarmed human could defeat, and only one (sheep) that your average person might stand a chance against. It could be better calibrated, with sheep nearer the middle of a spectrum of choices, possibly include a range of dogs (German shepherd, labrador, boxer), one cat, a team of cats working together, deer..

I reckon there are men that through training, strength and strategy COULD defeat a polar bear. Probably not on NSC, mind.

I thought NSC was full of 'ard bastards. We have at least one in @Lethargic that reckons he could 'ave an ELEPHANT.

in what setting would the human vs polar bear fight take place?

if it was in the wild I don't think there's a single human that is capable of beating up a polar bear- a male PB is on average 8-10 feet long and they are also generally absolutely raging for a meal. I doubt the human would be able to even vaguely land a glove on the bear before being brutally mauled to death

a bear that has spent their whole life in captivity so is reasonably well fed and vaguely docile- maybe

The Komodo Dragon.

I stumbled across these foul breathed cretins at Colchester Zoo a few years ago. They looked so much smaller in the flesh than they do on the TV. I reckon with a well measured run-up and jump, I could land on the Dragon’s head two-footed and absolutely take it out the game.

In the wild, komodo dragons can grow up to 3 metres in length. They have tough skin that acts as an armour, have a very powerful bite that produces venom, can run fast despite like they're big and slow, and also react very quickly to defend themselves. Unless it's a miracle knock out strike, you would expose yourself to a counter attack where you would likely get bitten and then poisoned.
