Looks like they're replacing the roof on the squash courts. Maybe as part of the gentrification of theSports Complex. This consists of rebranding the place as 'kinetica' and employing a team of trained painters from St. Dunstans to paint all internal surfaces of the place unlikely shades of tango orange, purple ronnie purple and angel delight green. Oh, yes, and they're crammed the place full of walking machines and rowing machines and cycling machines, and the end of the hall that used to have a large number of upper body and leg stretch machines now has wide open spaces and about half a dozen inscrutible multi-use machines - which even on a wet Summer morning had queues of nattering housewives grazing around them. Yup, they seem to have done an Argus and shifted their demographic. Best represented by the two monied navvies who were in the shower area when I got there. They were bragging about how their little darlings had come next-to-last in the Public School sports day and complained to the teacher so much that they got given badges just to get rid of the obnoxious parents. Great life-skill class that one aye? One of the geezahs was gobbing in the shower - you could hear it from about fifty yards away and his mate was bellowing away to him about his athlete's foot. Classy.

As Lord B. has mentioned many times, the odds against getting extra seats are against us at present thanks to the Tory dominated 'Policy and resources committee' on Brighton Council. To get any park and ride scheme approved, it has to get past this commitee after initial approval from the planning committee. No chance of any Tories on this committtee risking the wrath of the blue rinsed maidens and well healed toffs that are their power base in the Westdene/Withdean area. Another reason to hate the Tories!
