Gascoigne ready for Boston
Paul Gascoigne played for Boston in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday and afterwards said he will join the club.
The 37-year-old played for 75 minutes of Boston's win over a young Newcastle team and is expected to sign as a player-coach on Friday.
"The chairman is happy and I'm happy and I don't see why not. I'm 110% sure I will sign for Boston," he said.
"I've been given a great opportunity by Boston, manager Steve Evans and chairman Jon Sotnick."
Gascoigne added: "I have spent a great 48 hours with Steve, even his wife is looking after me by buying me a pair of trainers.
"It's opened my eyes a bit in terms of wanting to play football again and getting 75 minutes which was good.
"Another couple of games and a bit of short stuff, I'll be up with the rest of the lads.
"It was nice in the dressing room, listening to Steve talk to the lads and seeing cups of tea everywhere, little things like that which I had for 20 years. Little things like that give me a buzz back."
Evans has been keen to bring the former England star on board and a statement on the club's website said the 37-year-old would begin immediately and be officially unveiled on Friday.
"The man Gascoigne was magnificent. It's great," said Evans.
"He's been great in the dressing room, he's mixed with the lads straightaway and let's hope for the longer term it works."
Lengthy queues outside Boston's York Street ground, which delayed the kick-off by 15 minutes, are testament to Gascoigne's continued pulling power.
Wearing the number 19 shirt he famously wore in the 1990 World Cup, it took six minutes for the former England international to bring the crowd to its feet, with a turn, a flick and a 50-yard cross-field pass.
Despite an evident lack of pace and upper body strength, the 37-year-old rarely gave the ball away and one run saw him beat a bemused Jamie McClen three times.
Gascoigne earned 57 caps with England and starred at the 1990 World Cup and in Euro 1996.
He has played with several big clubs in Europe, including Lazio, Rangers and Tottenham, and had a stint as a player-coach in China last year.
