Me too ..original doubts over waterhall were cast a few years ago.and i think things may change especially stadia design etc..if we can build an inviromentally friendly staduim .. me thinks its still the best option ,but i dont care where we are in brighton as long as we get a decent stadium ...

unfortunatly they are both issues that could be solved by enough money and therefore sort of dont count.

The fact that its also in an AONB is more relevant though. flip side to that is that there is already a sports ground there, so you could argue that the use of the ground is already for sports and recreation.

Anyone want to nurture a colony of extremly rare frogs/bat/wild flowers there to finally kill it off?

Are there any of any sites mentioned, even Sheepcote Valley, that wont have local NIMBYs objecting ?

Surely we cant go though this whole proposal/objection process again:angry:

If they say we can't have Falmer but you are allowed to build on Waterhall I will cream my pants!

Waterhall is BY FAR the best site! There is not housing, it runs by the railway line, accessable via London road, the A23 an the A27. LOADS of room. You could build Wembley down there.

BUT

It north of the A27 and is genuinely an AONB and if they argue for that site they are arguing for Falmer too! So it will NEVER happen.

All the other potential sites are a complete joke. Should be a formality this inquiry! It will also raise some amuzing points from the NIMBY's as they try and promote land fill sites and harbours as viable alternatives...

Why not re-develop Withdean....the site's big enough ?
i for one(being a local resident) know that the lot round here will have loads of room to object(as they were told it would only be temporary)

Not the real one
Waterhall cannot be used mainly because of its location and because a rail link cannot be implemented, meaining all travel to it would be by car. It could not happen. Don't let it worry you!

Coz its slap bang in the middle of suburban Brighton and was only ever meant to be a temporary solution.

I think Waterhall also can't be developped on due to the nature of the ground underneath and the water table close to the surface.

exactly-

one of the criteria for a suitable site is cost- building a sodding train station would be expensive
