What the hell am I doing here?

Not on NSC but sitting on my pc on a friday night when evryone one else is down the pub, how depressing. To make matters worse Ive just had a pissed phone call from my bird whos at a party having a blinder.

Why Because for some stupid reason I decided I should do a detox and not drink for 5 days and actually managed to stick with it.

There is a beer in the fridge and I am actually almost dribbling imagining opening the bastard.

Seriously though, I have no sympathy. I've never known anyone gaining anything from these so-called 'detox' sessions other than some severe hankerings for booze and caffeine. I’m in because I have work – you’re in because you’ve chosen the path of self denial. Screw it – you only live once and five days off the booze will make no difference to anything, and when you’re lying on your death bed in 60 years time you’ll think of times like this and think “why didn’t I just enjoy myself that little bit more, why did I deprive myself of things which wee good?”

Go to the fridge. Take the beer. Look at it, imagine how good it will taste. Then drink it. And another. And then the rest. Then you can surprise your bird when she gets back by being a pissed up fool and amuse her and yourself by falling all over the place. And let's face it, the last thing you want to be when a pissed up other half comes home is sober. Never a clever situation to be in.

I feel your pain Dan.

I'm flatsitting for my usual drinking partner who is in New York.

Meanwhile my girlfriend is on holiday in Portugal and, a couple of hours ago, went to the trouble of texting me to say she's on her way out with the girls. Er, yeah, thanks for that.

Ludicrously I planned to have a quiet weekend. Sod that, I'm hitting the town tomorrow.
