With all the managerial talk and the thirst of Bloom and the board for the Albion to do well, I was wondering what is the highest league position you have seen the Albion get to?

I started supporting the Albion in 1984, so I believe the highest league position I have seen them get to, was the Barry Lloyd era when we made the play-offs in 1991…one game from the premeirship. (Did we flirt with 4th place that year?)

I know there are a lot of younger and older fans on here and would be interesting to know!

Lets hope one day we all share the highest position together :albion2:

I started watching a few years after you, about 86/87 ish, so that is the same high point for me to witness first hand.

Under Mike Bailey, we were briefly 5th in the First Division now the Prem early on (about September)

Think it was about 14th in the old 1st division, about 1982/3. Got an idea that was our best. ( unless questions are asked, and he starts being a dick)

When we finished 13th in 81/82

edit: we were higher than that during the season, it is being suggested here 5th, so I'll go with that, have to look out my old programs

And me I remember it (fairly) well. Didnt we beat Southampton that night?

I think you are right. It was definitely a night game.

My first ever game was the '91 play off final - been downhill ever since.

Ok we have had some promotions since so not entirely true.

I believe we were 4th (?) in Division One (now Championship) in the 02/03 after an opening day victory against Burnley.

That would be it for me.

Although under Mike Baily we were 5th and dropped to 7th on the Saturday. I think that's how I remember it.
Any one that thinks hoofball is boring did not witness MB's reign. Although it would appear by looking at that stat a majority of NSC would be over the moon, if you watched the matches to often the suicide rate would go through the roof!

I saw us beat Wolves 1-0 at Molyneux on a Tuesday night in 1981 with an Andy Ritchie 25 yarder that took us to 5th in the top division.

It was no fun trying to avoid detection by the unhappy locals getting to the station that night.

Highfield Road, another Andy Ritchie goal, header, nearly took the goalpost out-stood up very lonely in Sky Blues stand pretending I'd got cramp:ohmy:
Highest I've seen Albion though was in the helicopter

I started supporting the Albion in 1979 ( I was but a mere 9 year old then as opposed to the 12 year old my wife says I am now! ). I saw us reach the dizzy heights of mid table obscurity ( well, 13th) in Div 1 which puts us in the same category as a modern day Bolton I reckon

That 2-0 win at Southampton also prevented saints from going top of the league for the 1st time in their history!
