Brighton
Meridian South East is excellent and despite broadcasting from Maidstone, we always seem to get priority over Gillingham. I remember when the public enquiry opened, they broadcast their 6 p.m. programme from their Brighton office and based the whole prog around it. The also seem to genuinely like the club.

Meridian South broadcast from Southampton is shit.

"In a moment we'll show part of the build-up to Brightons fourth goal scored in the last minute at Wrexham, which secured promotion and the Second Division Championship with the last kick of the season. But first, lets take another look at the highlights of the grass patterns on Southamptons pitch, surely the envy of the entire football league. This week - diamonds are back".

Meopham, Kent.
It just has to be Meridian, they just leave me fuming on a regular basis, and that's despite living too far away to pick it up.

However, just the snippets I do catch when in the area, leaves me shouting and screaming at the telly. I never got over the fact that their build-up to the game at home to Bristol Rovers to clinch promotion, consisted of ...

"Southampton, blah blah blah, ...." 5 mins later ...
"Portsmouth, blah, blah blah, ..." 3 mins later ....
"And Brighton play hosts to Bristol Rovers."

That was it, as if they didn't even realise we could go up !

"today's Fratton Park update on Meridian: Portsmouth Football Club revealed today at a press conference that the Paulsgrove Estate Pike-U-Like Pound Emporium will now be the official kit sponsor of reserve goalkeeper Harald Wapenaar's left sock tie. Andy Steggall reports on this exclusive story...."

Bournemouth/Reading
There are indeed separate regions within Meridian. In Reading we get loads of RFC coverage and a bit of Brighton/Pompey etc.

In Bournemouth we get the south coast one, so I get loads of Brighton coverage. If you are in London you get Reading coverage too which is good as most of us in Berkshire are split between Carlton and Meridian.

How the bloody hell does Southend get in there? Surely that's Anglia????

The official site is quite good. You appriciate it more when you're not in Brighton.

I get really annoyed when I am back in Sussex and I sit through the local sport waiting for the Albion bit to find after usually decent reports on the other sides, then they finally get round to flashing up a picture of a random Albion player and saying he is injured for the match. Or more often than not: “And of the other teams in our region – Brighton are playing” as the fixtures for the local sides come up on the screen. And that is it – no interviews or goals shown, just the bare minimum of information in the quickest time possible.
