I live in New Zealand, planning a trip back to the homeland in the summer to coincide with the new season and stadium.

What are my chances of getting a ticket to any of the first games at the Amex?

I have not really been keeping up to speed with latest ticketing news as I will never be a STH.

Its a long way to come to not get a ticket, what do people think?

I was a North Stand regular, did Gillingham and the first few seasons at Withers, although in the scheme of things I know this means p#^s all.

I think in the scheme of things you are right. You don't come far up the pecking order because you jumped ship to go and live down under. Having said that, we are not selling 22,500 season tickets so get your application in early for one of the remain 7,500. Alternatively, register as a fan at the other 91 league clubs and hope we get a club that has zero away support for our first game.

I don't rate your chances to be honest. Remaining 7,500? More like about 1,500.

This was discussed with the club at the Mid Sussex Seagulls meet with the club on Tuesday night. Post 48 should help

http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?188918-Mid-Sussex-Seagulls/page3&highlight=Mid+Sussex

IN the same boat at the original poster, had a look at post #48, I could not really see an answer in there, perhaps someone could point out what I am missing.

My dad has already paid $4000 for his and my mums plane tickets to be back at the same time as the first game, the only problem is trying to get an answer from anyone regarding being able to get tickets.

If anyone has any thoughts, ideas or direction we could be pointed in to try and get a ticket(s) that would be great.

Cheers in advance.

Sorry, the point I was making was the club believe that they will sell all their season tickets leaving about 1,000 or so seats available for casual fans.

The club will have a better idea after the first week of season tickets going on sale.

Cheers

I'm hoping and praying that I'll be able to buy my brother who lives in the North West a ticket for the first game. The chances seem very slim though. Boo :-(

In the same boat too. Early August is peak time in Japan so it's gonna cost me the best part of 2 grand to get back for this one. Helluva lot of money to pay and then not get a ticket.

When do season tickets go on sale?

Cheers for the replies.

oooh its a corner!!!!

If people joined overseas supporters clubs which could be affiliated to the sussex clubs springing up we might have some leverage as a group??? The fact is falmer will only have 1,000 tickets left per game which will dissapear fairly quickly:eek: Sussex based fans will find it hard to get a ticket,if albion push on this situation will not get easier, looks like more letters to the planning office:eek:

If you are making a visit to the UK from New Zealand why not write to the club as I suspect they will try and help you.

If you are a media whore you may well get yourself in the paper or program if you like that sort of thing.

Listen very carefully - try reading this s-l-o-w-l-y

1 We will sell lots of season tickets
2 Getting to the first game may be a challenge

However getting to a game in August should still be very very easy. Why because thousands of people still take a 2 week summer holiday. I don't know how ticket exchanges will work in the new smartcard world, but there will be spare capacity.

That said there is a strange herd mentality around scarcity that seems to attract certain types of people like moths to a light (sorry this is not aimed at anyone on this thread). Be it a fuel shortage or bread and milk in bad weather some people lose their self control. Even Withdean had this for a while, when we had 5000 season ticket holders and a 6000 capacity. I am convinced there were people going to games not for the football, but because it was a challenge to get a ticket. Once we stuck in a couple of thousand more seats, there was nothing to hold their attraction any more.

The fella that got a NSC ban earlier in the week for offering a 100 quid to queue jump, was clearly suffering from this. I was contemplating taking him up on this and giving the money to Albion in the community. Why because I believe the propaganda, THERE IS NOT A BAD SEAT IN THE AMEX and with 20000 seats to play with most people for most games will be okay, even as casual supporters.

So what could go wrong ?

1 You get a seat near a bunch of people you can't get on with. Well this is a lottery, you can't control it and it probably says more about you than them. You will have to change seat.

2 Your season ticket seat is in an area full of casual fans and for some games you are sitting on your own surrounded by empty seats. You might want to move to avoid awkward questions about your personal hygiene.

3 You might if you are disorganised and wait until the last minute miss out on tickets for the odd big game. Such is the lot of the casual supporter. Either check on NSC or get to know a few season ticket holders and your prospects will improve dramatically.

3-2-1 snap ! you are now back to reading at normal speed thanks

I wouldn't say 'very very easy' due to the nature of the opening game. However, like you say, thousands of people still take a 2 week holiday. Plus its peak wedding season and not everyone will be able to get out of going to those. Plus there's always a spate of last minute available tickets on the NSC ticket exchange when people can't make it owing to unforeseen circumstances. Would expect that to still be the case for the opening game - tho obviously they'll be snapped up pretty sharpish.

Unless someone's willing to give their smartcard to a total stranger or arrange, and pay, for a paper ticket to be issued, then I'd have thought that these "last minute" tickets might be a rarity. I haven't seen any North Stand smartcards being advertised on the ticket exchange this season.

This I would reckon is your best bet. Good newsworthy stuff.

I will try that, and yes, quite happy to whore myself out to anyone that can front me a ticket.

Early January GNF. There are threads on it.

I still haven't had my letter BTW but I have booked my appointment.

I think Cheese Rolls makes some good points but the BHA guy at Savannah's the other night did paint a very rosey picture regarding ticket sales.

I think Beach Hut's point about writing to the club from overseas is an excellent one. You can't expect people to pay so much to travel and not get a ticket. And you can't expect them to buy a season ticket for one or 2 games either.

Good Luck!

I suppose it depends how easy it is to have a paper ticket issued. Hopefully something as easy as generating an email with a barcode. Certainly hard to envisage many people letting their smartcard out of their sight. That wouldn't be very, er, smart.
