West Sussex County Times dont want Brighton

The new sports editor does not want my Brighton reports anymore even though they got good feedback last year....sob..sob..back to reporting on Barns Green vs Slinfold. I guess they dont think it is relevant in West Sussex.

They had people write in emails and letter saying they were great reports and the old sports ed who is now at the Argus loved them...guess the new guy has different ideas. He said I can still write on other games, just not Brighton ones.

As for the spelling it is ok because someone spell checks it.

The new bloke is clearly an idiot. The West Sussex County Times can be bought from Brighton to Chichester along the coast, and up to Horsham. Places like Horsham and Worthing are known to be Albion strongholds, and the readers, even if they support someone else, will be interested. It will improve their WSCT experience (and let's be honest, it needs some help. You can have too many flower shows in a paper).

I'm sure you've already spelt out this key point, and if he doesn't see this the guy is an utter cretin. Sorry to hear the path that was made available to me for a season (ahem, that'll be the championship-winning 3rd division season) has been closed to someone else.

I did reports for the last 7 or 8 games last year and they had some good feedback and the old sports ed loved them and was trying to get me a press pass this year. He was a Palace fan and still saw the relevance and enjoyed them. The new guy has come in and does not want them. Up to him I guess.

I agree, one article focusing on a big league club provides a nice contrast of tone to all the localised reports on a sports page, which the new editor is right has to be the bread and butter of the paper but it seems they were getting a good deal out of Richie's willingness to work for next to nothing, so it's all a bit odd and shortsighted.

I was giving them in because I enjoyed doing it, was never a hint of getting paid for them. The old sports ed said he really enjoyed them and that lots of people had taken the time to contact then saying it was about time Albion were in there again.

Guess the new guy has his own ideas for the paper but needless to say I am annoyed.

Same here, I am annoyed as Youth MP for this half of Sussex, funny enough I am the only Youth MP in West Sussex that supports Brighton.

Its gone quiet at the mo. I have a meeting in early September other than that, not that much. I am trying to get a Eco-Schools (Recycling) project going for schools in West Sussex.
