At that very same car boot sale, my wife and I came across a stall with a crate full of dildos and other sex toys.

There are some things you shouldn't put on a car boot.
I bet he stallholders were not very happy , that would have been very messy. It is really something that you should save for the privacy of your own house.

At the Brighton Station Boot Market 15 years ago. I picked up a small 4 piece Shakespeare Book Set. They looked a bit tired and paid 50p. When I got home, inside the cover, they were signed in ink as a gift to A.A. Milne from a boarding school chum.

I took four tyres to a friend’s car boot sale and was asking £35 apiece. I needed to step away for a bit so I asked him to watch them for me.

"Sure," he said, "but just in case someone offers less, how low are you willing to go?"

"Try for more, but I will accept £20 each," I said, and left.

When I returned, my tyres were gone. "How much did you get for them?" I asked excitedly.

"Twenty quid each."

"Who bought them?"

"I did!"

Not weird or wonderful but took the kids to a car boot sale when I had one of the worst hangovers of my life. I was barely managing to stumble around without throwing up it was that bad. One of the kids took a shine to some toy so asked the guy who much. He said £7 (which was a decent price to be fair) but I was so hungover I just stood there for a moment working out what to do next. So after the pause he goes £5. Again it took me a few beats to comprehend what he’d said and work out my plan of action. While I’m paused trying to think what to do he goes £3 which made my brain finally kick in and get my money out. Best bartering I’ve ever managed and did it by accident.

Try that next time you’re at the Amex when you go for a pie and a pint. £3? I’ll ’av it! :drink:

Not a boot fair, but I went to a charity sale featuring various stalls in a hall in T/Wells, and i saw a big bundle of vintage porn mags for sale. Needless to say, I didn't buy it (as my wife was at another stall), but I'm sure someone had a ruddy good time in the name of charity.

Vintage porn mags you say? That sounds like the type of literature someone used to bring into work, aimed at, ahem, the mature audience. One of the publications involved participants in the their latter years and was unforgettably titled ‘Bus Pass Bitches’. Tickets please! :lolol:

My last trip back in October I picked up an insulated socket set, insulated to a 1000v. The cost of these new are extremely expensive The seller asked for £15 I would have paid £80 🤣
