Wearing other national teams football shirts - why?

Why do people go around wearing replica shirts of other national teams than their own? I'm not even talking about countries they might self-identify with - theres a totally Irish guy I work with wearing a Spain shirt with an Argentine jumper on over.

I mean, seriously, why the f***? You don't see Brighton fans wearing Palace jerseys now do you? We've played Spain (and lost to them) quite recently...

i own a ghana shirt

because they're COOL and tony yeboah played for them

i doubt i'd wear any other national shirt(i have never owned an england one, only a scotland one(i split my support 50/50)

you should never wear the shirt of a MAJOR nation other than your own though

I buy a shirt of every (off the beaten track) country that i visit as a memento.

Thats far more acceptable than wearing shirts of random, "cool" countries though. Which is what Dave seems to do - he's got a France one too IIRC...

I had a French shirt after the 98 WC.

Partly because it looked cool but mainly because I'd won a shedload of money backing them and I felt quite benevolent towards the old garlic munchers.

My boys have between them, 6 England shirts, two Ireland shirts, a blue Brazil shirt, Spain home, Italy keeper's shirt and Morocco home and away shirts.

They also have about 6 Albion shirts, plus various Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Southampton shirts.

They like football shirts.

Is that okay, or shall I make them throw them all away.

I can think of about 10 shirts I'd rather wear than an England one :lolol:

It'll look nice alongside all the other losers (England, 1966 excepted) shirts :lolol:

As well you should - an England world cup winning shirt will always have far more rarity value...:p

Same here - I bought it at Sporting Colours, Gloucester Road, Brighton, for all your retro sporting clothing needs...dunno why I'm plugging, Alan was being very rude about it while I bought it. Was sollste denn machen? At least being part-German gives one a good excuse, I'd say...doesn't it, MYOB?

I can see I'm somewhat in the minority here, owning only an insane number of Ireland shirts and no other countries...
