Could he be undisputably the best player in the world at some point in the next 5 years?

I'd have to say that he could. He already reminds me of Ronaldo in terms of power, shooting prowess and ability to read the game, and he's only 18 years old.

He could be quality but he could also be the biggest flop in football going by the hype made by the press.

It al depends on Sir Alex's management of him if you know what I mean

Certainly a contender! Even though he got a hat-trick the other night his overall game was abit off due to lack of match practice (first touch/passing I'm talking about). Certainly with Fergie over seeing him he could well become one of the all time greats, time will tell of course.

Fergie, as much as i dislike him, is porbably the best manager he could hope for at his age/potential.

a friend of mine had a spare ticket for the game on tuesday so i went to the game. They have arguably the best seats in the ground - ie the row behind the directors box.

Louis Saha sat right infront of me, and a couple of seats
away were roy keane, quinton fortune, and tim howard. Thought about suggesting a loan spell at the albion for them - but would they get in the team at the moment??..

fantastic atmosphere, the fenerbache (spelling..) supporters did not stop singing and chanting all game and totally outsung the 63000 man ure fans.

rooney looked superb to me, easily the best player i've ever seen.

Rooney should become an awesome player and believe me he is at the right club to achieve this.

MUFC will ensure he becomes a great player providing he doesn't marry some other star woman which looks highly unlikely. They will protect him and nurture his talent, I would not be surprised if the young Ronaldo also becomes a magnificent player. There is every prospect of MUFC having an exceptional team in a a couple of years.

Regarding England this really is great for us.

I slopped my beer everywhere when Rooney got that second goal. In a split second, he eliminated the defender in front of him without even touching the ball, just a casual body-sway to throw the defender off balance, then one touch and bang - a 20 yard daisy-cutter placed perfectly into the bottom corner. Just awesome, instinctive raw talent the like of which I havn't seen since Gascoigne in his prime.

Add to that the nonchalent genius of the free kick he stroked and dipped over the wall...wow. This kid is special, one of the few who actually justifies the hype. Pure box office.
