England under-21s grabbed a dramatic 3-1 win at the Amex – on a special night for Albion favourite Solly March.
March was handed his competitive debut for Gareth Southgate’s side and played the first 57 minutes of a crucial Euro qualifier against Switzerland.
But it was Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore who proved the matchwinner after coming off the bench.
He won the 82nd-minute penalty from which skipper James Ward-Proswe equalised.
Three minutes later, Watmore drilled a shot into the bottom corner via a deflection.
An astonishing impact was completed when Watmore skipped away from defender Manuel Akanji and pulled the ball back for fellow sub Chuba Akpom to finish in the 90th minute.
Watmore, who only joined the action in the 75th minute, was a popular selection as man of the match.
England spent much of the first 80 minutes trying to pick their way through a well-organsied Swiss outfit.
March had their best first-half effort with a shot just over the top corner.
His Albion colleague Jake Forster-Caskey joined the action immediately after England had gone in front.
