It was a funny moment listening to 5 Live in the car yesterday afternoon. I had been ambivalent about West Brom v Chelsea - it was just another Premier League game playing out until I suddenly realised/remembered that it was a game that DID MATTER to us.

I then enjoyed each Chelsea goal that followed.

This afternoon's affair clearly does matter also.

A Watford win would see us drop to 9th, but retain a 6 point cushion over the bottom three.

A West Ham win would see us remain in 8th, but our buffer would drop to 5 points as West Brom enter the relegation zone.

A draw means we drop to 9th AND our cushion shrinks by a point.

What do you want?

For sure a Watford win....West Ham are in a mess as a club......divided, players not on form, manager on short contract......not feeling at home.

Massive chance they could go down as their fans are on their backs each game.

Watford win by at least 5 to keep our cushion and further improve our goal difference advantage

Especially if the usual "new manager = win" doesn't happen.

I’m of the school of thought that says we need only look after ourselves and try to get to 40 points as soon as possible, rendering other results meaningless.

Watford win ... the bigger the gap between us and 18th the better. Also think Watford's form will significantly drop off when Silva leaves.
