Did anyone watch the highlights of yesterdays Watford Vs. Burnley game.
Watford's third goal happened because Burnlys keeper was down on the floor with a head injury and Watford played on for about 40 seconds and scored. The Burnley keeper was then stretchered off with a neck brace on.
That is a disgrace
:(

Watford had about a dozen chances to kick the ball out. They knew damn well the Burnley keeper was in no position to play any part in the game at that point. Dunno, they would have incurred a complete bollocking from their manager for not seizing the advantage, and I realise they're under extreme pressure to get a result.

But then you think: 'What would Paulo di Canio have done?'

But like you say, the referee was most at fault.

But (third But in a row), everything looks dead easy when you're watching the highlights the following day.

Dunno.

I couldn't understand why the ref didn't stop the game. I thought it was automatic if a head injury is involved.

coming from a watford fan, it was deserved as the ref had earlier f***ed them for a seriously bad decision where their keeper clearly got the ball running out of his box and a penalty was awarded against them.

Yeah thats what i thought. I would have kicked the ball out of play as it was late on and they were in the lead anyway

I thought a referee has the power to stop the game at any point when there is a serious injury.

I believe that's the case, but as I said I think refs are automatically supposed to stop the game if a head injury is involved. That was the situation not so long ago, but maybe the rules have changed again.

Fair point but should two wrongs make a right

Why is it the refs fault if Watford decide to play on? See Henderson set up a goal as well - still think he is crap?

Because if there is a head injury the ref is supposed to stop the game immediately.

Part of the problem is that so many players fake injury, or exaggerate what is a very minor knock that you'd run of if you were playing in a park game.

Which makes it particularly difficult for refs to differentiate between what's a genuinely serious injury and what's just some overpaid tart taking the opportunity to have a little rest while stopping the opposition in mid flow.

You know how annoying it is when the Albion have the ball in a decent position and the ref stops the game so some little git like David Connolly can have the physio run on and rub his calf very slightly for 5 seconds? That's what the refs are up against!

I think the ref in the Watford game apologised afterwards and admitted he should have stopped it. But still would have been nice to think Watford wouldn't have capitalised on Jensen's misfortune so unsportingly, but hey, that's the game.

Watford's manager was adamant his team had done the right thing, and stated "winning is everything".

I trust he will think the same if they need three points to stay up on the last day of the season and their opponents continue playing to score the winner with Watford's keeper unconscious on the edge of the box.

Should kick it out although if Brighton did it I'd be well chuffed. Cheats never prosper so expect Watford to be struggling by the end of the season.
They've suprised me so far though

saw this on Goals On Sunday last night and the keeper went down bloody easily and clutched his face when it looked like he got hit on the top of the chest! Maybe the Watford players saw or at least thought he was faking so carried on. I'd cetainly carry on if I thought he'd faked it....then I'd go over and kick him in the nuts and say "NOW you've got something to wriggle on the floor about!"
