was the goal that came back off the post an own goal or waynes goal?
i bet on there being a own goal in the game and could win £140 if the ref gives it as a own goal in his report

what do you think?

Arn't the rules something like - if the balls is on target and gets deflected then the shooter is awarded the goal, however, if it is not on target then its an own goal. As Swindon fans now know hitting the woodwork is not on target, therefore it must be an OG

Should be an og. If it had not hit the keeper it would not have gone in.

That is correct. If someone has a shot which is on target but deflected, it is fair enough to assume the keeper wouldn't have saved it and therefore give it to the forward. If someone has a shot which bounces off the post and is heading away from goal before hitting the keeper, it must be an og because it wouldn't even have gone between the posts without the keeper's involvement.

PS: Brighton Rock, 10% OK? ;)

Isn't there a panel like in the premiership that decides of the goal scorer using video evidence. After all winning the golden boot is worth mega bucks to the winner in sponsorship etc.

i think if it had hit the inside of the post and gone in off keeper should be Rooneys, but as it was coming back out should be og

I had this argument with BetHILO as I bought Rooney's goal minutes @ £2 a minute. They settled the bet last night as an OG.

HOWEVER, as UEFA gave the goal to Rooney I thought I'd check the rules.

"In the event of uncertainty about who scored a goal, the opinion of the TV station which is broadcasting the game will be applied. "

So I fired off an email to Bethilo suggesting they had contradicted their own rules. I've not heard back from them yet but I've just been creditted with the £150 winnings!!!

IMO its an own goal as it clearly bounces away off the post. if it we're going in off the post or along the line when it hit the keeper then it would be Rooneys

For the purpose of bethilo.com, they use the opinion of the TV station which is broadcasting the game rather than any official source - which seems very strange.

If Brighton Rock used Bethilo for his own goal bet, I'd be really narked in his position. It was clearly an own goal - but ITV showed Rooney as the scorer - so that's how it was settled (eventually).
