As seems to be par for the course, without direct warnings, things seem to start spiralling out of control on NSC with regards to anti-social behaviour. So it's time to reiterate a few things and try to rein thing back a bit. So...
1. Swearing is part of football culture - always has been and always will be. As such, swearing is permitted on NSC. However, it is expected that usage of such language will be to reinforce a point or strength of feeling. NSC's relaxed posture to swearing should not be taken as a right to swear repeatedly and often. If you overdo it, you will get warnings.
If the current volume of bad language continues then the use of NSC's profanity filter, which for now only censors 'the c word' will be extended.
Trying to bypass the profanity filter will always result in a warning being handed out. Multiple warnings are automatically converted into posting bans.
2. Direct abuse of others will not be tolerated. If you think a post if out of order, use the 'report post' feature - a link is present alongside every post. This alerts the post to all moderators who can react appropriately.
Do not quote the offending post and do not abuse the poster who made the offending post. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that, and you are likely to get warned yourself. As above, warnings can quickly become bans.
If someone constantly grates you, put them on ignore - you'll not see their posts unless you explicitly request to.
3. NSC welcomes fans of all teams and our treatment of them is more liberal than many other boards. However, there are some ground rules for those fans...
- Do not post 'banter' in otherwise Albion-centric threads. Doing so is likely to quickly de-rail a thread into squabbles and abuse. You will get warned/banned.
- Do post in threads where people are having a pop at your team/players/decrepit ground/hapless carrot-crunching manager/cheating, diving players. That's fair game. If people can't take it, they shouldn't dish it out.
- Think long and hard about starting a new thread designed to rile. This is trolling. Warnings and banning will quickly follow.
Albion fans are asked to respect the above. By doing so, there should be some very obvious threads for team v team squabbles, leaving the rest of the board free of them. If people attempt to de-rail an Albion thread then report the post, don't rise to the bait and respond with abuse.
