Canada duly won the World Cup this evening with a 3-2 win over Finland.

However, as of 15 minutes ago, the contract between the NHL and the players has expired and it looks like the upcoming hockey season is to be cancelled as one set of millionaires (the players) argues with the other set (the owners).

Which would be a shame if the Sens are deprived a chance to thrash the Leafs again.

Congratulations to Canada, Juan, and I hope that the subsequent development hasn't affected everyone's joy at the win.

MMMMM I am sorry Juan but like all good sports fans I love to rub it in your face when you talk trash. How did you get on in the Play off's last year.

That's right, We knocked you out and we were playing some crap hockey at the time as well. Now don't start harping on about luck when it is a 7 match series.

:salute:

it will be a shame if the season doesn't go ahead. i, like many others were looking forward to the now annual event of our beloved leafs giving juan and his sens a damn good beating.

(and obviously they'll be nothing to watch once the world series is over which is f***ing RUBBISH!!)

they best sort this out quick smart.

Most talked about scenarios are either scrapping the whole season or maybe starting in January.

To be honest, this bothers me not very much because it doesn't affect my own beloved team. Hey, we may even get some bigger crowds. The entertainment value is as high, in my opinion. And the cost of a season ticket for my club (24 home games) wouldn't buy you one decent seat for one game to see the Maple Leafs lose at home.

Just pleased the event is over so NASN channel can get back to showing the baseball.
