Villa closing in on Delph

Sky Sports News understands that Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Leeds United for talented young midfielder Fabian Delph.

A number clubs had been credited with an interest in the highly-rated England Under 21 international following his impressive displays at Elland Road.

Whites boss Simon Grayson confirmed at the weekend that two bids from Premier League teams had been received, but both were rejected as they did not meet the League One club's valuation.

Manchester City, Tottenham and Everton were believed to be monitoring his progress, but Villa now appear to have jumped to the head of the queue.

With an accord reached between the two clubs, Delph is now expected to travel to the Midlands to discuss personal terms with Martin O'Neill's men.

O'Neill is determined to improve his squad ahead of the new season as he looks to build on last term's sixth-placed finish.

He was briliant for Leeds down here last season.

Good. Villa's squad is now embarrassingly bare, another 4-5 GOOD players still needed this season to get even close to 5th-6th this coming season.

Dirty Leeds could spend some the money on Billy Sharp but it'll probably just go straight into Ken Bates' sky.

f*** Villa's squad. This is great news because the transfer will severely weaken Leeds, and improve our chances of beating them.

You like Take That, thus regardless of how pertinent ANY points you make may be, I refuse to take you seriously.

If they sell Beckford and Becchio as well they will be destined for a mid table finish.

Not sure what to make of this one, they lose a top quality player but have now got a load of money to bring in people who can easily compete at this level if Bates opens up the purse

It looks like a 100m dash.

If that was the case, all 3 players are in the correct positions. Although Fraser wouldn't be that close behind Delph.
