I know its only a game but they have consultants working for them who would probably have a good idea. Considering that he won the Spanish footaller of the year award around 2003 beating the likes of Zidane and Raul Im sure that Valencia would have signed him to a long contract and made him amongst, if not, their highest paid player.

I wouldn't be at all surprised tbh.

That will be the tag end of a contract he'd have signed at his absolute PEAK, and at such a time, he was one of the hottest properties in La Liga.

No wonder we were in the running. He seems to be keen to just play football and is probably fairly comfortable financially, so anything over a certain amount would be viable.

Don't be ridiculous .... Valencia fans on other threads have said he was on 2m euros a year that equates to about 40k a week. Still not bad work if you can get it.
