Used Stamps - O/T

Outside the office we have a 'collection point' for used postage stamps - in aid of the blind.

What is the purpose of used postage stamps? Surely they have no value?

Discuss.

ive never understood this either. i can only assume they sell them at some miniscule amount to collectors - apparent some collect on the basis of where a stamp has been or been sent from.

Sounds like a scam

I presume that is at times when they are not standing outside schools wearing Parkas or grooming children on the net!

But the blind won't know they are used stamps

They dig out any ones in a half way decent condition and with any value, and flog them to collectors abroad - UK stamps or recent years will have feck all value in the UK, Ireland, France etc - anywhere close by; but will have value in the US, Canada, Australia, etc

It obviously makes money, loads of charities do it.
