Worthing
It appears more places may be up for grabs from 2024/25, which may have a significant impact on qualifying outside the top 6/7 as it is now. It will be interesting to see how this develops. This applies not only to the Champions League but the other tournaments as well.

I dont believe that there are more places up for grab, merely that the amount of teams have changed.

Therefore, some teams who were in the playoff would qualify directly as opposed to dropping in additional PL teams

Looks bonkers. You have a 36 team league, and the 'winners' are the top 8 teams after ten matches. That's like ending the PL in October! Lucky the teams that get through to the top 8 while avoiding difficult matches with Real, City, Barca and PSG!

Stealth European Super League; more fixture congestion, reduce the size of the EPL to 18, more European places, more fixture congestion and reduce, repeat!

As mentioned above, it's just the European Super League by stealth.

But as this has got UEFA logos all over it, it'll be #forthefans.

Add in the 'new' world club competition & 'top teams' will be demanding even smaller EPL.

Linked article is 2 years old, not that it changed things massively but the format has been altered slightly.
Instead of 10 league matches, Champions League participants would instead play eight matches, four home and four away (a seeded draw from various pots — as is the current custom for allocating groups — would be a likely choice. In that hypothetical scenario, a team would draw two teams from the four pots, one home and one away, to play across the eight league matches.)
